Which to get? Canon 40d or Nikon d90?

Which to get? Canon 40d or Nikon d90?

I have went to the store and looked at the List XSI, List 40d, and the Nikon d90. I have picked up all the cameras and played around with them. As for the erogonomics, I didn’t like the List XSI. The List 40d had a better feel. As for the Nikon d90 compared to the List 40d, I have no preference between these two.

I need help in alternative which one to get. As I would be shooting indoor, likeness, and landscape.

Should I wait for another camera to come out?

Thanks, any suggestions?
Need to add a small detal, haha. Which brand has better lenses, in better built quality/price.

Most bodies within a price range are similar in the quality of image they produce. The business that is vital is the lens. For likeness work on a crop sensor you will need a fixed lens of around 35-50mm with a speed of at least F 1:7 if it is to be used indoors. For landscape you need a wider lens, a zoom with a wide lower end would do, as long as it has a decent image IQ. You also will need flash for likeness fill and indoor work.

Look first at the lenses, at the cost, then look to the camera body. Note that invariably all the kit lenses provided in a “deal” with a camera body are one step up from rubbish. They are not of a suitable quality for serious work.

Go with nikon, you will have more lens options since they have kept the F-mount constant since the 60′s

Since both camera companies make brilliant gear and lenses that pros prefer, you are really only looking at the features on each camera.

To make the best comparison, you would have to compare the D90 with the List 50D

In the end you will have to touch and feel both cameras and then see which not only feels best in your hands, but is the simplest for you to steer through their menus

Nikon D90 vs Panasonic Lumix FX-550
nikon d90 compare

The Lumix is a very excellent compact, but this comparison shows the limitations of a compact with a small sensor. It just can’t blur out the social class the way the DSLR can, and the small on-camera flash is no match for an SB-800.

There are a few compacts around now with larger sensors that can probably get much quicker to the SLR image.
