Filmmakers: Any recommendations for a digital camcorder and editing software?

Filmmakers: Any recommendations for a digital camcorder and editing software?

I wanted to get for myself a digital camcorder and some control software to teach for myself how to use the camera and do some control. I’m most interested in set-ups where the audio can be recorded separately from the picture.

Any suggestions on a decent, cost-effective first camera and software program? I’m talking about very simple control, cutting, dissolving, blackouts, maybe wipes, dubbing, etc.

An simple method is that you can download screen recorder like DemoCreator and use it to record the audio from your computer. Play the record and it will record the audio and save it in the project file.

What do you reckon? Answer below!

It came w/ a record conferencing utility that operates w/ record and audio at several frames per second (fps) vs the ~.75 fps of standard Yahoo webcam sessions. I realize this is the messenger limitation and not the device so this is an up your sleeve. But, is it possible to operate this or any additional digital camcorder as a webcam on Yahoo messenger?

i doubt it, the memory isn’t quick enough. basically, the images are stored any on your computer (webcam) or on a card, dvd, tape, etc (additional camera.) Logically, the only way to do it would be to have a cable with one end a usb port and the additional end plugging into your memory card port, which i don’t reckon will ever happen because the cover must be closed.
