How do I change the length of the delay on the self-timer on the Nikon D70?

How do I change the length of the delay on the self-timer on the Nikon D70?

The self-timer on the Nikon D70 has a default delay of 10 seconds, but can be lengthened I judge to 20 seconds. How do I do this?

You may be headed toward an answer, but I need more detail.

I have a similar nikon digital SLR, and i know that when you press the ” fn ” button on the side of the menu, it cycles through the shooting modes, like continuous, and remote control. And, like your camera, mines can only go on 10 second self-timer, i’ve been through all of the menus, and i can’t see how to exchange it, i reckon you’re referring to a different camera.

Nathan

Since the object in the front of camera can’t wait for camera until 20 seconds or more that why the cameras have desiged at 10 seconds that highest time of self-timer. And you can’t.

It’s in the CSM menu one that looks like a pencil it would be #24.
The camera CSM menu needs to be in detail too find that go to the one that looks like a wrench it would be under format mandate.

Woo.

Ive been looking at the NikonD40 and read how it wont auto Fosu unless the lens in AF-S or AF-I and i know some of the sigma lenses work with them no conundrum but , Does the d70 have this conundrum or does it have a internal motor so i can use any nikon lens with it ancient or new??

Unless you are plotting to stock your camera system with ancient used lenses (as different to newer used lenses) don’t worry about the D40 using “only” the 25 current AF-S lenses and all the AF-S and AF-I lenses available since 1992.

Persons who are just buying their first SLR, digital or not, usually do not have a bunch of lenses laying around they want to use. If they do, then they usually look past the D40 at the “next step up” D80 or new D90, so called sub-$ 1000 camera bodies.

The D70, while a fine camera at the time, suffers from technological problems ALL DSLR’s do. Aging. Pros exchange camera bodies every 18-24 months, advanced amateurs, every three to five years.

Here is a comparison between the D70, D40, D80 and new D90. Remembering that pixel count is NOT a huge deal, no matter what the marketing folks seem to reckon, compare the rest of their features and see what YOU reckon.

The discontinued D70, D70s, and the even cheaper D50 will all autofocus and work perfectly with any Nikon AF lens.

The only Nikon bodies that won’t are the D40, D40X and D60.

Best to watch in 480p mode. —————————————- ————– This is the first test of my new home made intervalometer for my Nikon D70. Made from an intervalometer connected to a Nikon Infrared remote control. Whole cost £29.99, the D70 DSLR does not have the additional remote shutter release control that the D70S has so I came up with a cheap “nearly off the shelf” solution to the conundrum. This will work on just about any camera that has a remote control not just the Nikon D70 ! Here are the details : www.timescapes.org I shot this through my front window and did not clean the glass very well as you can see there is a bit of dirt in the middle of the shot!, this is just a test to prove my rig does really work. The system is made from 784 photographs taken at 10 second intervals. At 0:52 the same system is played backwards. High Definition (1280×720) version : www.vimeo.com
