New Panasonic HDC-TM700 camera! Amazing video! But no editing software!?
I’ve recently bought an awesome new camcorder, the Panasonic HDC-TM700. Records in awesome HD record, AVCHD to be exact. Conundrum is, very few control programs really support this format. I really bought Adobe Premiere Pro, and realized i did not need that expensive or that detailed/advanced of a program. I’m just looking to make a few fun small films with me and my friends, nothing major. Does anyone know of a free/cheap program that will edit these incredible files, OR know of a conversion that wouldn’t completely ruin the quality of the record so I may maybe just edit in Windows Movie Maker?

I’d like to recommend AVS Record Editor to you, I always use it to edit record and make pun record for uploading to Youtube, it’s simple to use and the quality is awesome, you can crop, cut, join, edit record with it easily. It also embeds many special effects, you can even add text to record or add social class music, that’s pretty cool. It worth a try

Panasonic HVX200 DVCPRO HD Camcorder, I’ve written about the camera here.
I am looking for a record camera to start a web show/podcast and want an HD camera. Conundrum is, there are SO many out there! The general consensus though is to any get a Sony or Panasonic.
So here is what I want: HD Record Camera with -
USB 2.0 to transfer data to the computer
External microphone jack (to plug in a wireless body microphone)
HD Record (if at all possible 1080p, if I doesn’t cost too much)
and LESS THAN $ 1,000! That’s the toughest part! All the cameras that are exactly what I want are 3-10 grand and I can’t afford that reasonably yet.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

The only ones I can reckon of that have external mic ports are the Sony’s though there are bound to be others.

At your confirmed budget, you are in consumer camcorders. List HF series. Sony HDR series. Both have flash memory and hard drive AVCHD/MTS file capture – which is their downside, but it is what it is.
