Professional Video Camera Sony HVR-V1U?
Well I am looking to buy a camera that will enhance my business. Currently we film small businesses and broadcast their work over the net at small resolution. We are currently using a small sony home record camera, but want to upgrade. I was looking at the Sony HVR-A1 Professional HDV camera. I want a camera that will make me look professional, like a news TV camera. Would this camera do the job? Also most professional record cameras come with or is usable with a wireless mic?
Looking to stay abound the 3k mark.
Thanks

I would say that camera is more than enough for your work posting online record, but will also future proof the footage in HD if you ever need it in broadcast quality for HD disc later when it becomes feasible. The 1080i footage is also simple to deal with from the Sony and you can even downconvert the HD to DV from the camera. All the control apps support 1080i now. That camera is really the main weapon of a lot of documentary makers worldwide now too. I’ve been using one lately even if I normally use a JVC HD GY-HD111e camera which uses a much more hard format to deal with..720p 25, so I would recommend the Sony for your work in the marketing record field. The only additional business about using the JVC is that it is larger and looks more professional..which earnings that it will impress clients and public are more likely to get out of your shots..lol. The two are nearly similar in price is you shop around.
But, as a broadcast film maker for myself I would point out that if you want to get your work to look like what you see on TV you need to study and practice all the factors that go into a production such as lighting, camerawork and final control and production to broadcast norms. All this is achievable on many small cameras if it’s just for online delivery and the camera won’t make too much difference for that. The camera upgrade will be essential for future proof and broadcast though. If you need any more help fee free to contact me.
Best of luck
Patrick

if it works, gonna sell it on e-bay, if it doesn’t, computer case!
Sony doesn’t repair this recorder anymore, it’s such a excellent piece I’d like to find someone that can fix it. I’m in South Florida.
