Why does my digital camera turn off after taking only a few photos?

I received a Kodak Easyshare C875 digital camera for Christmas last year, has worked fine up till a few days ago. I place in fresh new batteries and the camera insists on shutting itself down only after 10 photos (tops). I used to be able to take hundreds of pictures without changing the batteries! I have tried rechargable & non-rechargable batteries as well as a variety of different brands. I only use my camera once a month, but when I use it, I take a ton of pictures.

I have no thought what caused this to happen! I tried resetting my camera; no luck. It is no longer under the warrantly because it is just a few days past a year! Please help me!!!!!

Mine does the same business. I have the same camera. My guess is the cameras are defected or they are naturally supposed to turn off.

Does your camera have a background for auto-power off after a specific time? I have a really different camera (List Digital Rebel XT) and it has a background for how long it stays on with no activity. The default background was pretty small, like 2 minutes, but I was able to set it for a longer period. If your camera has this, check in your manual to find out how to exchange it.

Sounds defective, but I recommend you check
your auto power off background as they may maybe have been reset after putting in new batteries.

Christmas is coming up, and I know that I need a new digital camera. my largest conundrum with digital cameras in the past is that they take to freaking long to snap a picture. Shutter lag is the most annoying business that I have ever experienced, and I have a 16 year-ancient sister. on top of having a quick shutter speed with very small lag, I am also looking for something close to 10-12 Mega Pixels, and it has to have an optical zoom. If you own a camera or know of a camera with all of these things, please let me know, because I am having an dreadful time result one.
Also, I am semi-willing to go up to $ 350.00 if I really need to.
thanks

You can find a used DSLR for that sort of price if you look around. Try ebay and craigslist.
