What are the top ten Canon Digital EOS SLR Cameras that Canon have ever made?

I would Like some excellent cameras for African Flora and fauna Photography

Answer by endangeredsaviour
1) EOS 1Ds Mark III
2) EOS 1D Mark III
3) EOS 5D Mark II
4) 50D

If you need a lightweight walk-about as a backup camera, you might consider the List 450D/XSi.

Edit: I read the remarks below and agree. Shooting moving flora and fauna with long telephoto lenses in unpredictable and maybe low light situation requires high quality images at high ISOs. That earnings List’s best offering is the 5D Mark II, and you should take a non-biased look at additional brands if you do not already have a lot of investment in List harvest.

There are only five current List EOS DSLR’s made now. The two entry level DSLR’s the XSi and XS, the mid-range or sometimes called sub-$ 1000 range the 50D, the economy full frame 5D, Mark II and the professional 1Ds, Mark III. All the former List cameras are too ancient to consider.

Having lived in Africa and having been a wild life photographer, I want to draw your attention to two things.

1) The time of day we most shoot flora and fauna is during the hours of dawn and dusk when they are feeding. That earnings you will want to have some very low noise sensors when shooting at high ISO’s.

2) It is not the brand of camera that will make the photos, they can only help the photographer as any excellent tool does.

That said, I would suggest you have your photographers really test the List 1Ds, Mark III rev. 4 with a 400 mm f/2.8 lens and a Nikon D3 with a 400 mm f/2.8 lens and see which gives you the best image quality.

I’ll add that the 40D is still produced. The 50D didn’t replace it (yet) and is instead sold alongside it.

Well there really arent many more than that every made, so Ill answer your question a small differently. For flora and fauna you are going to want something with quick AF and a decent amount of fps. Budget I would say the 40D or 50D. A small more expensive a used 1D mark II(N) from someplace like keh.com. Most expensive the 1D mark III. What you really are going to need is a long lens like the 400 f/5.6, 100-400 f/4.5-5.6, 500 f/4 or 600 f/4 going from least expensive to most. I would not go below 400mm for flora and fauna.

Digital camera

I’m looking for a new point and shoot camera. If you may maybe recommend to me the best compact-like digital cameras from different brands, that’d be fantastic. I tried searching “top digital cameras” and such, but I refuse to judge what the sites say due to how inexpensive they are. I’m looking for something that’s around 10MP.

Anyway, what are the best digital cameras that are around 10MP out there right now? Thanks.
I’m looking at a site and I’m confused about which camera is newer. Do the higher numbers mean they’re newer? Because the SD1100 IS is only 8MP, whereas I would reckon that the newer cameras would have more MP like the SD790 IS has?

I like my List Powershot SD950-IS.

There may be better cameras that offer more control, but this will fit in my shirt pocket so I can always have it with me.

The List SD850-IS is also brilliant, but not reasonably up to the SD950-IS, because it has the smaller sensor.

What do you reckon? Answer below!
