The new digital camera, bought last week, taken with the ancient one. An extraordinary improvement on the ancient one, and it’s only a positively mid-priced model, too. I can’t imagine how excellent a really expensive one must be.

I am a college student and don’t want to have to spend any more than is necessary. It is vital for me to have a camera that takes really excellent pictures to save for the future. I have been reading reviews of cameras in all price ranges. Do you reckon that most digital cameras sold at walmart would fit this description? Does anyone have recomendations of fantastic/brilliant portable cameras that I may maybe buyinexpensively new or used (like around $ 100, or even less)? Thank you!

What do you need it for? I know you’re a college student, but are you in a photography class, or what?

But anyways, any Nikon or List would be excellent. Most cameras can take excellent pictures, if you learn how to use them.

I’d go with any List Powershot, which are usually around $ 100 and pick up a small book on how to get started with photography.

Theoretically yes, all cameras within reason can take fantastic photos. $ 100 is within that reason ($ 15 key chain is not). The conundrum comes when the general public is told the camera will take fantastic pics for them and they don’t recognize the situations that would trick that camera’s abilities to do so.

ex-

Sunsets. The camera wants everything to be evenly lit, so the sunset comes out too bright.

Dark faces. If the sun is behind public they’re faces come out too dark.

At night. Many cameras can take pictures at night with or without flash but there’s a few things you need to know. Otherwise they come out blurry or so grainy you can’t see anything.

And the list goes on. So yes, most cameras can take incredible-enough pics, if you take a weekend and give yourself a Youtube tutorial or take a book from the library. Know the situations where the camera simply can’t get it right on it’s own.

There are plenty of cameras at Walmart that are fine. List, Nikon or Sony are all fine. Samsung is less recommended but is not too terrible. Olympus can have more muted colors but they do function well. Kodak is just terrible. Everyday there’s someone asking something about why their Kodak just stops working. Vivitar is garbage. Avoid it at all costs.

If you are talking about taking a class at school, you are most likely looking for a 35mm film camera. A whole different tale.
