How did you hook it to your computer? You need to hook it to your computer via a fire wire connection. It looks similar to a usb connection. My computer did not come with a firewire connection so I had to ad it to my computer.

The simplest way is by using a firewire cable, connecting from record camera to computer. Once the camera is on, computer will instantly detect the input signal. Choose to record it using Movie Maker and start control. email me fastrade99@yahoo.com.

i have the plug that connects the camera to the computer, and i have the software and everything. i don’t need to know how to edit. All i want to know, is once I have the camera plugged into the computer, how i get the videos on the camera, onto the computer.

ALL Sony consumer camcorders are “HandyCam”.

MiniDV tape uses firewire (IEEE1394a, DV, i.LINK are all the same business). Add a firewire port to your computer if it does not have one – and has an extension slot. Camera is in “VCR” or “Play” mode, “Capture using MovieMaker or Import using iMovie.

Hard drive and flash memory uses USB. It will mount like any additional mass storage device; copy the record files to the computer hard drive. Macintosh will need StreamClip to convert the highly compressed MPEG2 record files.

DVD based needs a drawer loafinDVD drive on the computer. Rip the record using HandBrake

Then bring in to the record edito of your choice.

Analog record requires an analog digital join or record card.

You did not tell us the camcorder, your computer or any additional detail that would help – this is about as far as we can go.
