Compared to the 5 previous images from Oakland Cemetery, this one may seem a bit plain, but that’s OK. This particular stone belongs to Maynard Jackson, the first African-American mayor of the city of Atlanta. Maynard served three terms as mayor, with two consecutive terms from 1974-1982 and a third term in 1990 thru 1994.

There’s reasonably a bit odd about this plot, even though it looks pretty normal. Most noticeable is the flower agreement on the stone, which was the only one that these eyes may maybe find in the whole cemetery. There’s also a fantastic deal of grass around this plot because Mr. Jackson’s grave is the only one set in this particular lot and there is fresh sod all around the stone. It was reasonably surprising to find an area in this place with this much green.

The most odd business about this particular grave is the angle it was set at. As you can see, it is very much facing a different direction than the additional plots in the social class and is the only one in this cemetery place at an angle. Why? Mayor Jackson requested to be buried at an angle so that he would be facing the city that he loved and served, and as you can see from this image, downtown is easily visible in the social class.

This is the 7th and final entry from the Oakland Cemetery and I must say, it has been fantastic fun processing these images, not to mention the incredible fun it was to take them in this incredible place. When I tweeted that I was going to a cemetery to take pictures and after I posted a few, several public offered up additional cemeteries for me to check out, which I hope to some day. I doubt that they will have the impact that this one did on me.

There’s something to be said for spontaneity and gut feeling. This trip to Oakland was not plotted and was very much a lucky draw. Even up to the last afternoon in Atlanta, I had no thought this place even existed and only out of a bit of desperation did I click on the link to this place, but after looking at their site, I had a hunch it would be cool, not knowing that it was much more than that. If visited, these additional cemeteries will be plotted out and have certain expectations as result. Even if visually comparable, they likely will not have the same impact.

I highly recommend taking a walk at Oakland if you’re in the area, even if you don’t carry your camera. It is a really peaceful place with loads of fascinating and gorgeous things to see.

Just bought this camera and it came with a UV filter Lens and I have no clue how exchange the Lens.

Answer by Teri
I’m not sure what you’re asking. A UV filter goes on your lens. It protects your front lens element, and blocks UV light to cut through haze in landscapes. You remove it by unscrewing it from the front of your lens.

Removing the lens is different. Your manual will tell you how. Do you have another lens for your camera? Don’t remove the lens without excellent reason, like to exchange it out for another one. Every time you remove it, dust gets in and can cling to the sensor, causing spots on your images.

What do you reckon? Answer below!
