How do I keep the date/time display when I transfer JVC Camcorder video to DVD?

I have a JVC 20GB Harddisk Drive Camcorder. When I watch the video on the camera the date and time are displayed. When I burn the video to DVD it isn’t there. Help! I have lots of precious video from my child’s first year of life and I want it stored properly. Thanks!

Sony DVD recorders have that Option. I personally don’t have the DVD Reco..

If you are interested in editing the video on PC, you can use Sony Vegas 7 or 8 Prof. to add time filter. You can also write Text on it and give it some nice glowing effect like we see in Movies.

You might also want to try Windows Movie maker first.

Hard drive camcorders record in MPEG-2, which doesn’t include a date / time stamp. Your camcorder’s recording the information in a separate file with a .moi extension, so it’s not available when you edit your video / author your DVD.

The link’s to an app which can rename your .mod files according to the .moi info, but you’ll probably need to add the information to your video by hand, using an editor. Alternatively, look at subtitling apps and add the timestamp info that way.

If I’m not mistaken, I saw this gadget at Walmart. It’s about the size of a video rewinder. You put the small tape in this device, which is apparently connected to your TV, and it plays the tape. I believe it was under $ 25.

You need another camera that plays MiniDV, or, a MiniDV Player (expensive).
You may end up sending the tape to have it converted into DVD.
