my credit score is 661 just checked it why can't i get a circuit city or best buy credit card?

they didn’t approve my for credit last time and i know inquiries affect my score, with this score should i try again?

Answer by chick
661 is very low. Try to get your score up to 700 which is a better score, it just shows you are more reliable but yea 661 is a low score. Credit card companies like giving credit cards to people with good scores, because they know that they can pay them back the money. Your score verifies how reliable you are at paying back the credit card companies.

Your information is scant…if you have collections, late pays or went bankrupt with one of there sister companies they may deny you.

Or you could be already in heavy debt. Some guidelines of credit card vendors are probably going to stiffen due to the mortgage implosion. This downturn will have a domino effect on other industries.

I would not keep pulling on your ficos until someone says yes. To many pulls in one day can effect your scores.

Good Luck

Lenders standards are becoming more stringent given the way the credit market is going right now. Other folks mentioned trying to get a 700 score. And this is right on. You need to have 700+ to get any credit these days =)

I made 2 purchases in Best Buy using their promotional no interest for 18 months or something. Does that mean I don’t have to pay that Deferred Interest just as long as I pay off my balance before the 18 months is up?

Answer by mia t
i would read the fine print
I’ve been told after the grace period you get socked with the whole amount to be deferred.

Answer by R T
That is the special payment arrangement.

The interest is put off (deferred) for 18 months. If you pay off the balance in 18 months or less, the interest goes away. If you do not pay it off in 18 months, you then have to pay all the deferred interest which is calculated from day 1.

What I usually do is divide the total into 17 equal monthly payments. That way I pay it off in 17 months (one month early) and save the interest.

Answer by Dan B
Exactly. But make sure you aren’t late with any payments. That will void the deferred interest promotion and you’ll be charged interest from day 1 when you opened the account or made the purchase(s). Read the fine print for any additional “gotchas”.

An old idea, a new design. It turned out pretty cool, and the material used is the finest steel money can buy! Great picks, not for one time use …
