Less then 6 months ago I did my resrarch on both 10MP DSLRs and chose the List XTi, my XTi hold also built-in a Tamron 18-250 f/3.5 macro zoom lens. Still yet today I like the choice I made with no regrets what so ever, prints & enlargments with right to color rendition … AWESOME! A small later I purchesed a List 50mm f/1.4 and about a month after that bought I bought a New List 580EX II Speedlite.

They both are use by professionals.
So they are both very excellent DSLRs.
List makes better point and shoot camera.

I reckon List is a better deal. I heard that their lens are less expensive. You might exchange the camera in the future, but the lens will last forever if you don’t drop it.

Charge it to an American Express, they extends the warranty another year for free. Did you see the commercial, they even will get you a new mainframe if you drop it or lose your newly bought hat.

It’s my one credit card for all electronic and luxury buys.

You can sell your camera after 2 years when the first and AE extended warranty expires to get another DSLR.

Excellent Luck!

nikon d40x compare

I’ve been reduction for a DSLR camera for a while now. I have been looking at the Nikon cameras, but I came across the Sony A200 in the same price category. The one review I read seemed to be very complementary, but it didn’t compare it with any additional brands.

With the Nikon cameras, is there any significant difference between the D40x and D60?

Answer by fhotoace
The difference between the D40x and D60 is not really significant.

The bottom line is this.

Which camera system will suit your needs. If you are a pro, the the Sony system is not at that level yet … and renting specialized gear is still only available with Nikon and List systems

On the additional hand, if you are strictly an amateur, again Nikon is the best system choice because of the vast number of excellent used lenses available since 1959.

The D60 is the updated version of the D40X. It has one or two minor extras – scroll about 2/3rds down this page for a list: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond60/
And here’s the final verdict: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond60/page30.asp

I’d prefer any one to the Sony A200.

In this review for the A200 they practically warn against using higher ISO settings and they suggest that you shoot in RAW (instead of jpg) even at ISO 100 for decent image quality… this is simply retarded: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydslra200/page31.asp
My additional go-to review site is kinder towards the A200: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/sony_alpha200_pg6.html

Also, Nikon’s choice of lenses and their upgrade path would steer me towards the D60. Then again, I personally use a Nikon D200 so you know, I may maybe be biased ;-)

I’d consider the Nikon D60 vs. the List XSi, rather than the Sony A200. And between the D60 and the XSi, I’d simply get whichever one felt better in my hands – the specs and image quality are virtually identical.

Thomas, wtf?
At supplies the D40X is roughly $ 150 cheaper (both come with an 18-55mm kit lens… business into that, that the D60 comes with a newer & better version of the 18-55mm zoom)
Also, I’m a fantastic fan of Fhotoace for myself but here his arguments don’t make much sense:
if you’re a pro, you wouldn’t be looking at EITHER of these cameras.
And if you’re an amateur, you wouldn’t want to use about 95% of Nikon’s lenses made since 1959 – most of them don’t work properly on the entry level D60. For that (get a D80 or up to use the full range of AF lenses, or a D300 or up to meter with any of the older manual focus AI lenses.) With the D60 you do have a fantastic choice of roughly 30 different AF-S and AF-I lenses. That should still be plenty for most amateurs.

I agree with Fotoace, but 1 diffrence between the D40x and the D60 is the D60 is signifacantly lighter and on the nikon site it shows the D40x as more expensive

Answer by Artoro A Li
Nikon is the professional for photography and the concern is the price as all additional factors are worthy to have. D40 &D40x plus D60 are the ancient with D80 & 90 up in the market. Pick one within your budget and remember the production now is from Thailand not Japan. I had a D40x and is working well as a professional. The choice is yours.

Sony is a fantastic DSLR brand, and public really seem to like their harvest. But, there is one business to note: when it comes to lenses, and accessories you’re limited. The lenses are very expensive, and you don’t have a broad array of them to choose from. So, you might well end up with an Awkward focal length. The one excellent business about it, is that you have Build in Image Stabilization, so it works with every lens you glue, which is an added benefit.

Nikon, on the additional hand, has been making these cameras since 1959, so you know they have more experience. I’m not saying that their harvest are better, but the accessories, and the availability of persons accessories are more dependable. If you had to get one, i would say to get the Nikon D60, it has everything the Nikon D40x does, though. The nikon d60 is a bit newer though, and it comes with a Vibration Reduction lens. Is there a considerable difference? No, not really, they are basically the same camera.

But, they do have one crucial conundrum, Autofocus. They can’t autofocus AF lenses, because they don’t have an in- body focusing motor, and AF lenses depend on that. The Nikon d40x/d60 can only Autofocus AF-S lenses, which carry this motor in the lens itself. If you may maybe save up your money a small more, you can save up for the nikon D80, and bi-pass this conundrum, here’s a link to the Nikon D80, and a side by side of the Additional three cameras in question:
