Why does it say that one can have a digital waterproof camera under water ONLY FOR UP TO 1h ??

Why does it say that one can have a digital waterproof camera under water ONLY FOR UP TO 1h ??

I can’t find now where I read it, but I reckon it was in one of persons Olympus Stylus Waterproof cameras. Now I don’t know how life under water for more than an hour may maybe hurt the camera while life for 45 minutes cannot !! There are depth set of laws, OK, I get that, it’s because of the difficulty. But once the camera is a waterproof one, it is waterproof always !!

Is someone able to clarify this ???

um cause condensation i reckon condences after so much time just like when a cup sweats. I reckon, not positive

Yes, it just basically earnings that it can resist the water difficulty for one hour, past that the water will start going in the camera.

It’s because of the seals and the difficulty of life underwater. After a certain point, the seals that keep the water out can’t deal with the difficulty and may maybe potentially leak. It’s not going to start leaking exactly one second after it’s been underwater for the confirmed time period, but after that point the seals can leak, damaging your camera. Reckon of it like a room with port holes in a sinking ship. When the water on the outside of the port holes reaches a certain difficulty point (usually after a considerable amount of time), they start leaking, and ultimately fail. It’s the same principle. Also, it’s not an hour for the life of the camera, it’s one hour an occurance. Like you go diving one day, use it, and then diving the next day and use it for an hour again, just in case that wasn’t apparent. Hope that helped!

Taken with my iPhone.

i took my olympus stylus 790 sw shock and waterproof digital camera i had for a while into some shallow water and now it won’t turn on. i tried charging the battery but on the charger a red light keeps flashing. at first it turned on but only onto the play function but not on the camera bit and the lense doesn’t open. its not the first time ive taken it under water. there is reasonably a lot of water and sand stuck inside it but i got most of it out and drying it but it still doesn;t work. please help!
i’ve taken it up to 6 metres before and it worked fine. also can’t take it back as i bought it in canada and live in england.

It’s 10 feet waterproof, so if shallow water broke it then I would send it back to where you bought it and say exactly what you told us.
