should i get a nikon d3000 or a canon eos rebel xsi ?

i never had a dslr before, but am very interested in photography.
so which on would be best to start with, and are there any additional suggestive cameras/brands ?

I would go with the Rebel only because I feel comfortable with it

The list eos rebel xsi I judge is a fantastic starting camera, but go with the one that you can get the best price on.

list eos rebel xsi has the better specs – 12 compare to 10 from nikon
rebel does weigh less then nikon
has a carrying case
everything else is pretty much equal

if you consider the D3000 (that is selling new for $ 525), i highly recomend looking into the D3100, which is the new and improved D3000. it’s currently selling new for around $ 550.
you end up getting much more for your money.

i personally would choose the D3100 over the XSI simply because i went to a store and tried them all out and out of all the entry level dSLRs i prefered the D3100.
so with this said i highly recomend you go to a store and try the cameras out for youself, read some reviews and go with the camera that fits your needs best.
not every camera is excellent for everyone.

Both are excellent camera to get but if I have to choose I would go with List Rebel XSi. It come with better specifications.

Sometimes on Friday mornings I will take the scenic route to work. There is no one set scenic route, but you can rest assured that it will not be a direct line. This morning took me East out of Cottage Grove, then North through Afton on a county road. It was really a gorgeous ride on a gorgeous day.

Seldom is there a scene that makes me pull over. There have been many that I have pulled over for, but very few that MADE me pull over. Today’s image was one of persons scenes I had to pull over for.

Scarcely does a bar and grill go to this much effort to be seen. Most are somewhat inconspicuous, especially in small towns. With a sign this huge, there’s nothing inconspicuous about it. And how inviting is it to be greeted with signs for Schmidt and Pig’s Eye Beers, right along with the Pepsi Cola? Very!

I couldn’t help but reckon of the song "Down In The Boondocks" by Bille Joe Royal when I seen the name of this place, especially with the size of it. ‘Public place me down ’cause that’s the side of town I was born in’. Makes me wonder if this guy gets any grief from the public on the North side of Afton? How is this place viewed in the eyes of the ‘society’ folks?

Regardless of how others view this place, the owner appears to be reasonably proud of his establishment and he probably has every right to be. At the least, it’s a fantastic site to point the camera at!

We are up in spokane visiting relatives and I brought my XSI with me and its supposed to get down to about zero degrees today and tomorrow and i was wondering if my camera would work in that kind of cold?

Sure the batteries will drain nearer though. Check your manual it will list the temperatures for running your camera.

One way to find out, go out and use it. Just be careful when bring it back into a warm environment (condensation) place it into a largest zip lock bag and seal it before bringing in and don’t open it until it get to room temperature.
