Is this digital camera fixable?
It’s a Nikon Coolpix 8.0 Megapixels. I can turn it on, and when I press buttons, it makes the same sounds, but the screen is white with a eerie black crack in it which happened after I dropped it. I can still take pictures and transfer them to my comp, but the screen remains the same and doesn’t let me view my pictures or what I’m taking a pictures of. If I can fix it, how much would the repair cost, and where can I get it fixed?
Answer by babu
yeah it is fixable most camera repair shops do it…

Everything is fixable. The question is how much will it cost. If the camera cost less than $ 200 I highly doubt it is worth fixing. Bring it to a camera repair shop or just call and question them. It sounds like you need a new LCD screen. They will be able to tell you how much one costs and give you an estimate on how much it will run to repair it.

Not worth repairing. Use it as is untill you get another camera.

I’ve just bought another DSLR body and have been getting to know the ins and outs of that. Days gone by, I bought my wife a new GH2 (she’s worth it!) and got surfing around compact camera fora and it reminded me just how fun compact cameras can be. So I got my Lumix LX3 out again and played around in the back garden with it.
So then. Does anyone want to buy a near new Nikon D700?… ;o)>
Dynamic B&W background, 16:9 format, honest out of the camera.

One very simple and quick solution is to go out and get a groundbreaking new camera because you don’t have the tools or the skills to repair the camera all by yourself. Also the cost to get the camera fixed most likely be equal or greater than what the camera is really worth.
BTW: Why wasn’t your friend using the camera strap?
Answer by NickP
Your stupid friend needs to buy you another camera! When you drop cameras, say huge repair bill. That’s why if you see any of my answers you will see buy a wide neck strap and keep it on your neck! Period. I don’t know where young public got thought it was “cool” to carry camera by the strap
rather than keep the strap around your neck! In any event, hope these web sites help you.

DEAD is assess. Tell your friend that they owe you the repair costs. The P90 is only 1.5 years ancient.
Call Nikon (1-800-NIKON-UX 1-800-645-6689) and make arrangements to send your camera into them and get a repair estimate. Then give your friend the bill.
That is the reason I am the only one who handles my cameras.

Repairing a point-and-shoot camera will cost more than buying a new one.
