I am looking for user opinions of the Kodak digital camera's Z712 and Z812-I have a few questions about each..

I am looking for personal experience with these two cameras, I have poured over the reviews for them and still cannot make a choice! Specific answers I am looking for are: Can I use my kodak rechargeable batteries with both of these? The batteries I have are NI-MH, typ. 2100 mah. Also, does it have a special USB cable for loading pics to your pc or can I use my current one that I have for my Kodak cx7530? Will it work with my Kodak Easyshare program? I am very curious about the time it takes to snap a photo…when you press the button, does it take the pic straight away or wait seconds? I have read that the controls for the 812 are a small too hard to use because of them moving to easily-right? I am looking for info only on these cameras, please do not recommend additional cameras to me….thanks ahead of time for any and all answers.
One more question! Can I use my sandisc memory cards with these cameras or are there special cards to use?

Answer by Earl D
I am only familiar with the 712

it takes the same cards, cables, software.

Batteries only charge outside the camera unless you have the dock and Kodak recharge pack.

Theoretically the only difference between the 812 and 712 is 1 MP

they also comes with cables and software

yes to the sandisk..
not sure about the usb cord – it should be the same..
it will work with any printer..
you must use crv3 batteries – your 2100′s will only last about 30 shots..
if you need crv3 rechargeables – it will cost you $ 37 for the charger and 2 batteries..
if you are interested – email me and I will give you the link to the cheapest place..
I never bought this camera because of the batteries and sometimes the pictures are blurred even when they should be focused..
the z712 is even a worse camera..

Washington cherry blossoms, Apr 2010 – 12
kodak digital camera reviews

Even if you’ve never been to Washington, DC, there’s a pretty excellent chance that you’ve heard about the annual celebration of the blossoming of the cherry blossoms. (If you’ve never heard of it, there’s a excellent summary and history on Wikipedia; you’l learn, among additional things, that the cherry trees were a gift from the city of Tokyo to the city of Washington in March, 1912). Of course, if you’ve never been to Washington, then you haven’t really experienced the cherry blossom festival.

Unfortunately, I have no such excuse: after life born on an Air Force base in Florida, I spent the first couple years of my life in Washington; and while I subsequently spent the rest of my childhood and all of my adult life in innumerable additional parts of the country, I’ve been back to Washington literally dozens of times during the course of my life, for a variety of business and personal activities. Yet, sadly, I’ve never been there at the right time, and the right place, to see the glorious explosion of pink blossoms and flowers around the circumference of the Tidal Pool at the Jefferson Memorial monument.

Well, now I can cross one more business off my "bucket list": with the help of some enthusiastic friends in Washington (one of whom is an avid fellow photographer), I can now say that I’ve been there, and have walked around the basin to experience it all first-hand. I won’t try to describe it verbally; after all, that’s what the photos in this Flickr set are intended to do. But I will say that neither words nor digital images can fully capture the experience — you really do have to be there to fully be grateful for it all.

Of course, if you come all the way to Washington to see something like this, there’s a excellent chance that you’ll wander around the community area and see reasonably a few additional noteworthy and historic statues, monuments. Walking around the Tidal Basin to see the cherry blossoms, for example, you can’t help but walk past the Franklin Roosevelt Memorial. Not only had I not seen it before, but I had not even heard of it; it turned out to be reasonably different than the immense Lincoln, Washington, and Jefferson monuments — but equally impressive and moving. I also walked through the World War II memorial, but didn’t manage to see the Korean War memorial. Having been to the Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam War Memorial on a trip last summer (click here and here for photos from persons visits), I didn’t feel the need to see them again this time. But I did walk past Blair House, and the White House, and also took a few photos of the Washington Monument.

So … one more item checked off the "bucket list," but there are still lots more things to see. One item on the list, for example, is the Arlington National Cemetery — which I finished up visiting on the day after the Cherry Blossom festival. But persons photos are on another digital memory card, which I haven’t even uploaded to my computer yet, let alone cropped, edited, tweaked, and uploaded to Flickr. And when I check that one off, there’s still a lot more: Machu Pichu, the waterfall in Brazil whose name I can’t even remember, and so forth and so on. So, stay tuned: there will be a steady spill of Flickr uploads in the days to come…

I Just recently bought one. It is a generic battery, that doesn’t come from Kodak, but all the reviews were excellent so I figured I’d try it. The only business is, I’m not sure how long to charge it.

Charging time for this battery is 3 hours and charging cycles is up to 300. Sometimes, it depends on your charger. See link below for the KLIC-8000 specifications:
