How to activate the LCD view finder on the Canon EOS REBEL XSI 450D for the basic zone?

How to activate the LCD view finder on the Canon EOS REBEL XSI 450D for the basic zone?

I just got it and can only get it to work on the creative settings but not the basic settings… Am I doing something incorrect?

Maybe not … the live view systems on List DSLR’s is still having its share of problems. Just stay tuned for more updates

All I can say is read your owners manual and follow the instructions to the letter.

Really unless you have your camera mounted on a telescope or microscope, there really isn’t any need to be using the live view mode.

Holding a over 2 pound camera at arms length trying to hold the camera steady to get a shot can cause all kinds of camera movement issues..

You need to READ your User Manual…
Turn to page 96, “Preparing For Live View Shooting”.
It clearly says near the top of the page (in bold letters)…”Live View Shooting does not work in Basic Zone Modes.”

So, you will need to use the Creative Zone Modes instead…
P…Program (much like Auto)
Tv…Shutter priority
Av…Aperture priority
M…Manual

Also, make sure you have a look at the clever reference chart at the back of the manual (pages 170-171).
It’s a Function Availability Table which lets you know which functions are available in all available shooting modes. Refer to it often…

No, in fact, you can’t activate the LCD in basic zone..

it only activates in creative zone (i.e. program, AV,TV, Manual mode)

(hope you delight in your stuff.. you can question me anytime about the List 450D)

This was taken with a acquaintances rebel xsi with a 50mm fill in lens. Now that I’ve seen how fantastic this fill in lens does i’m going to have to pick up one.

Can anyone tell me the difference between, the List Eos 450d, and the CANON EOS REBEL 450D / XSi

Answer by Dcntamcn
There is NO difference – the EOS 450d is the European name for the American EOS Digital Rebel XSi. Same features, the name printed on the camera and literature is different, and the warranties may or may not be honored in different locations.
