Digital camera not copying movies to computer?

Digital camera not copying movies to computer?

I have recently purchased a new Panasonic digital camera. After taking many pictures and a few movies I uploaded them to my computer using the USB cord and selecting the option ‘copy picture to a folder on my computer’ (using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard). I have always used this option when I had my old Canon camera.

I have deleted all the photos and movies on the camera. However now when I go to look at them absolutely none of the movies I took are showing up. Why haven’t they copied? I never had this problem with my old camera using the same options. This is highly frustrating as the movies are now deleted and were very important to me :(

Any suggestions?

10 points top answer.
Thankyou fhotoace I will do that in future :) usually I just copy the photos on then delete them off the camera manually when need-be (generally when it starts to get full). But that will hopefully solve the problem in future. I have used the camera since so it may be too late to do a restore, but I will give it a go!

Thanks Elvis, I’ve had a browse through and still can’t seem to find the movies amongst the pictures. I have also tried ‘arranging by file type’ with no luck :/

The work-flow is this.

Copy all your image files and video files to your computer and ONLY after you have verified that they are all safely on the computer do you format the memory card. Deleting those files can eventually cause card corruption

Now to your problem.

DO NOT use that card again until you can attempt a recovery the files from your memory card. Lexar’s Rescue 4 should be able to recover those file if you have not used the card since.

I need a camera tripd that is lees than 10 inches tall when folded but it extends 4-5 feet when the legs are extended. I saw one that is attached to a slim still camera without a center extendable piece. The digital camera is fixed on top of the tripod without the head unit.

The problem is the higher the tripod goes the more solid the legs, head and body of the tripod need to be. Check out Bogen’s web site they have great tripods

61″ when extended, 24″ when folded

53″ extended, 9″ folded

Believe it or not, tripods are a very difficult item to recommend without knowing exactly what application it is going to compliment.

Your best bet is to go into a professional photo store and handle the ones that seem to fit your criteria.

The most important factors in choosing a tripod are is it sturdy and will it meet your expectations.

In the past I have used Majestic, Tilt-all and my current Bogen / Manfrotto 3011BN (much too large for your application although I do carry it in my backpack when shooting landscapes)

Here is a link to a good variety of tripods.
