Why is my computer not recognizing my Sony Camera?

Why is my computer not recognizing my Sony Camera?

This wasn’t a conundrum before, but all of the sudden, when I try to capture record from my sony record camcorder, it says that it cannot find a record device. What can I do to make this work again?

Answer by sportscam_guru
Switch it to “play” mode.

You might also want to try a different USB port if you have one.

Answer by Hey M
they had a fight, you will have to wait for them to work it out.

Answer by pureandsimple
Sometimes it depends on when you turned it on, etc. Some systems work where the computer must be on before you plug in the camera, or vice versa. The manual should specify. And if you don’t have the manual, you can go to the manuf. website and look up the manual online.

Answer by Inquistive_man
1. camera should be ON and in the right mode (Which is view pictures
2. if its in the take picture mode, it will not show connected.
3. make sure any AV cable is also not emotionally involved when the USB cable is emotionally involved… only one cable should be emotionally involved.

I am in search for a professional camcorder that uses only memory sticks as media storage. I do not want to work with minidv’s because I prefer using memory cards instead. I am interested in a sony camera much like the Sony HVR-Z7U but I am open to additional cameras like List or panasonic. I have a budget of around $ 4000.

Answer by Techwing
I reckon the HVRZ7U is the only Sony pro/production model that will record on cards. The prosumer models on down (HDR-AX2000, etc.) will accept cards, I reckon.
