Should I repair my digital camera or get a new one?
It’s a sony cyber-shot 5.1 megapixels. The lens was out to take a picture when it fell and I caught it between my knees. It jammed the lens, so it won’t go in or out now. I would have to mail it in for repair, not sure how much it all would cost.

they charge $ 140 just to open the camera.

I say have it repaired unless cost is too much. I also have a CyberShot. I thought they were break proof. I thought they MIGHT break if dropped from 40 tale building,haha. I shouldn,t be so pun. After purchasing it 2 1/2 months ago I droped mine 3 feet on living room floor, luckily it’s carpeted. It’s ok. Again in your case MAYBE it would be cheaper getting it repaired.

well, you may maybe just get a new lens, it might be cheaper, or you may maybe take it to the nearest repair shop, see what they may maybe do for you, it may be more expensive to replace it, so id look at replacing the lens or fixing it first. excellent luck!!

Disassembled camera and screen

Ciao, I have Sony Cybershot 3.0 (12.1 pixels) digital camera. I’ve had it for about a year now and never experienced any problems till about a week ago.
I go to turn on the camera and on the screen it says “Turn the power off and on again” So, i turn it off and on, and still the same message. I don’t know how to get rid of it or repair it. Googling this conundrum hasn’t helped one bit.

Your battery may be wayyy out of juice. If you recharge/replace it/them, and doesnt work, yeah, I would get another…

at least $ 100 for repairs

Get a different brand next time, like a Fuji finepix or Olympus. much more reliable and not more expensive!
