It’s great that you are into photography at a young age. You should keep in mind these top 4 brands when buying a camera:
1) Canon
2) Nikon
3) Olympus
4) Pentax

You don’t need to buy a new camera. You can get a refurbished one, for a fraction of the price. Sure it will be a couple months old, but its perfectly usable. Also, please don’t buy into the megapixel hype. Don’t let people tell you more megapixel is better. I dare those people to compare a 4″x6″ photo made from a 5 megapixel camera and one from 8 megapixel and see if they can spot the difference. They can’t!!

If you can swing around $ 200, get any of the new Cannon compacts. They are all great cameras. Same for Nikon and Fujifilm. Try to buy one that has been out for a coupleof years, rather than a new model. It will be a lot less expensive and will still have all the features you’ll ever need.

I agree with the previous posters who have mentioned brands like Canon, Nikon, etc. A nice point & shoot would work well for you. Either of the two I just listed are great, as well as Sony’s (I have a Cybershot and have never had any problems with it!)

Also, look around where you live. Walmart sells some all right cameras, or look online at places like Amazon or eBay.

May you have the best days after your birth day. May your dreams be cherished like ever. :-)

I suggest is do not ever buy second hand cameras as electronic equipments are said to misbehave at any time (it could be after 1 month of ur birthday… lets hope not).

Better you buy cameras of Canon, Nikon, Olympus or Sony.
What is your budget? There are lots of cameras available in market with 5+MPs. :-)
