How do I raise the dpi on Sony Cybershot DSC-W170?

I just bought a Sony Cybershot DSC-W170 after hearing lots of excellent things but when I import the pictures to my computer the images are blurry and are only at 72dpi. I’ve taken pictures using all the different settings to test…Is there something I’m doing incorrect?

Answer by mike
72dpi?

Usually cameras go by pixels. I judge your camera is a 10.1 mp, I have a w100 8.1mp. The higher you make the pixels the clearer your pictures will come out and because of the pixel size it should up dpi. Never had this conundrum, you can email me in my profile if you want if you need more help since I can’t see the interface I don’t know if the menu system is different then mine.

72 DPI is only print background. You can’t raise or lower the DPI until you really print the images out on paper.

The most common cause of blur in pictures is camera shake. Try increasing the ISO speed, using the flash, or background the camera down on something and using the 2-second timer.

My Sony Cybershot W230 turns itself off when I try to take a picture. It has a full memory stick and full battery. I bought it only a few days ago. What do you reckon is incorrect with it?

By a “full memory stick”, I reckon you mean a memory stick with no pix on it. I’d take the camera back to where I bought it and demand an exchange.
