What's a good store to "try-out" digital cameras?

I went to Best Buy the other day and the camera I wanted to use wouldn’t work.

so yea, I’m looking for a store that has cameras on show that you can mess around with and test. Preferably the Canon Powershot A590. Do Target and Wal-Mart have digital cameras you can try out? Or any other stores?

Thanks!

Target is excellent, but Best Buy has more. Circuit City also has them all out, but still, in my experience, Best Buy has the most out crosswise the brands. (FWIW, Canon is the best in point-and-shoots. 17 out of the top 24 best promotion point and shoots on Amazon are Canon: http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Cameras-Photo/b/ref=sv_p_3?ie=UTF8&tag=degeeked&node=330405011 )

Better yet, go to your local camera store (like Ritz or something), since the salespeople will know a lot more about the cameras and will be able to guide you better to the camera that is best for you.

They are both brilliant cameras.

All you may end up hearing from us it that one is better than the other, but with no finite reason’s given but for things like I like my 10 MP XXXX camera and I have heard that the 10 MP YYYY sucks.

Stuff like that will not help you much.

You need to do two things before you place your money into someone else’s you will first choose what you expect not only from this single body, but what you reckon you will want to do in ten being or so. By then the XXXX or YYYY body will be a distant memory but you will still be by the lenses you started by from the beginning, plus any others you have bought along the way, new or used.

Then after you have a better thought of what you might prefer, go into a camera store and hold both cameras in your hands, take a SD card with you and really take some shots by both cameras at each lenses max and min focal lengths and with the ISO’s set at the buck and highest setting. Steer through each cameras menus and see which is simplest for you to use.

Take the SD card home and look at the results by your computers large monitor to see which looks the sharpest and has the least noise at high ISO’s

Here is a side-by-side comparison:

I personally like Canon better… but I highly suggest you go to your local camera store and check both out… hold them in your hands, play with them, see which one YOU will be most comfortable with!

By the way… both of your links go to the Canon Rebel XS.

Personally I would go with Nikon D60. It is very simple to use and provides brilliant images without requiring a lot of technical knowledge
Picture quality are sharp & clear

Tough call. I have both and they are both fine cameras. What it really boils down to between these two is how does it feel in your hands. The Nikon is very nice for no-brainer work in program mode (automatic) and produces stunning images with the click of the shutter. The Canon is a bit more customizable with the manual settings.

This is a Documentary small about my friend Josh & I waiting to get the Nintendo Wii. Originally, we were just going to go to the Release Party at Universal CityWalk in Hollywood, CA. I took my Canon digital photo camera just to take some pictures of the party and possibly some 30 second clips… though our night didn’t turn out like we plotted and I finished up shooting this unplanned small doc by my small Canon digital photo camera…
