Canon SX210 IS vs Casio EX FH100 vs Sony HX5V vs Panasonic TZ10?
by Barry Zee
I am looking to buy a digital camera with excellent optical zoom for my parents. I am unable to choose between the above options because what is lacking in one camera is available in the other and vice versa. I do not wish to equate the camera on price yet, just on the routine at this point in time.
Here is a wish list of what I expect the most from my camera:
1. Assuming that I’d want to print my pictures someday, EXCELLENT/EXCEPTIONAL quality of pictures in terms of: crisp/sharp images on zooming, natural color, excellent contrast, routine in low set alight, less of purple color interference
2. High optical zoom (anything >= 10x works for me just fine)
3. Smooth and crystal clear video recording with the ability to zoom in motion
Nice to haves:
1. Panaromic sweep or photostitch feature or something similar
2. ability to shoot in HD
3. long battery life
4. excellent screen visibility in the sun
5. within the range of $ 200-$ 300 (I can go a small more than that if vital)
6.
I am not very keen on GPS because I know it won’t be needed.
Am hoping that you’d not lead me to another set of reviews on the internet that I may have already visited. Citing your own experience in deciding to buy and keeping any of the above would help the most I estimate. Also, if you have other cameras to suggest, delight do and cite your reason as well.
Thanks for the information and your time.

I would go with Canon PowerShot SX210IS 14.1 MP Digital Camera
The zoom range is incredible and very helpful. The color this camera captures is realistic and detailed. It is compact, simple to use and fun to shoot. It is not equal to a quality SLR camera but is clearly better than all of the compact camera’s I have used. My impression is it’s in-between quality in a compact body. It certainly sets a new standard.

I first thought I’d wait in anticipation of I had a film camera with some black & white film on me before I took this, but I had been experimenting with digital black & white and thought I’d try it out with the Lumix and I’m quite pleased with the result. I will take a film version eventually and then we can equate them! Looks excellent large…

I want a small, simple to handle digital camera. That makes excellent pictures even with terrible lighting etc. I looked in a shop at the FujiFilm F30 and the Panasonic FX-01 and the Canon Powershot SD600. I liked all three of them and would like some advice which one to get when comparing price and picture quality. I would use the camera for snapshots like at family gatherings, when lynching out with friends and so on. Can anyone give advice? Thanks in enhancement!

The new Canon SD700 is the first Digital Elph equipped with Canon’s Image Stabilizer. Panasonic FX-01 has image stabilizer too. But the noise level is too high on FX-01 in low set alight condition. Fuji is nice, but I prefer Canon.
