What does everyone think of the Sony alpha700 and alpha 900 as a professional camera?

Answer by φωτογράφος
the major weakness is noise above iso400 – however most pros never shoot much above 100iso so its not really an issue

they are fine cameras made by the company produces 90% of the broadcast TV cameras, Sony are a serious player they make sensors for nikon and are here for the long haul

i think they are fine cameras as good as those that use them – like any camera

Sony wont describe either one as a professional camera, mainly because they don’t yet have a new lens lineup of sufficient variety and quality. When you consider that all Sony DSLRs will accept all Minolta AF lenses it makes a huge difference. A Sony with a good lens can match any of the current cameras that are rated as professional.

Besides Sony Vegas, what are 2 professional sound editing programs in use by Major Motion Picture Studios today?

Answer by Kenny
Virtual DJ, Traktor, … pretty nice, mostly for DJs.
There’s Adobe Audition, Premier, and Soundbooth. Also, when searching I found something called WaveLab 6.

Answer by Hatosan
Sony Vegas is not for audio editing and more for video editing. Major motion picture do not use Sony Vegas for making a 2 hours movie. It will crash within 2 minutes.

Flame, Flint and Avid system, a high end non linear editor with features not available from any low end video editing and support for HD, and many more.

Not even Sony Vegas Pro can do what they can.

CORRECTION: The song is actually “The Passenger” from the Book of Eli soundtrack, NOT “The Journey” Filmed with the Sony HDR-XR150, and edited in Sony Vegas using Magic bullet to achieve the Film Look :D includes times lapses Sidenote: The last shot (The one with the cooling tower and the tall stack) was actually filmed during the daytime, not at dawn / dusk
