Suggestions for a digital video camera that streams live to HDMI?

I’m looking for a digital video camera that streams live to HDMI, ideally 720p. The intention is to connect the camera directly to a TV with a HDMI input without going via a VGA converter or a video capture board. The function is to show a bench-top demonstration to my class.

So far I have found lots of digital camcorders that will output recorded video to HDMI, in the Flip HD and Sanyo Xacti range for example, but I want the camera to output a live feed. I don’t need the recording facilities, so would be pleased with something that is like a web cam or CCTV camera as long as it had a HDMI output not a USB tie. The closest I have found so far is something like the Canon EOS 7D, Sony HVR or specialist cameras designed for microscopes, all of which are rather expensive and rather bulky. Ideally I’d be looking for a mid-range digital video camera output live feed to HDMI. Any suggestions?

Does something like the Canon HV40 suit your needs? Though it is a 1080i camera…

Not only will it stream HDMI (or HDV/DV over FireWire), it will give you manual control over white balance, shutter, exposure, focus, and audio if you want it. Otherwise, just use the camera’s automatic mode. But with something like a demonstration, you can set your manual settings the way you want them, and leave them there so the camera doesn’t try to automatically “help” you with what it “thinks” it should set itself to.

Which one to choose i dont know, but stick with Sony Cybershot, fantastic camera & lovely quality photos. I have a Cybershot & like it.
GPS is like on the mobile, it’s a positioning tool so you can find everywhere you are & others can find you, not needed on a camera really.
Always try to buy with a warranty, you shouldnt need it with a quality piece, but you just never know.
Have fun choosing…….

For average daily use I would suggest the Cybershot too, the pictures are fantastic even when ur hands are shaky (which is a common conundrum for people), IsA you won’t regret it.
No no no HD video recording camera is absolutely not necessary except you wanna be a pro or you do serious video editing, which I don’t reckon you do :)
From my experience it is better to go for larger megapixels because when you place it in your computer the pictures will be much more clear and detailed. For the zoom option you can always enlarge the image later in your computer.
In case of digital cameras it is better that you have a warranty that comes along with the buy, and try to question how many being you get, usually 3 being warranty is excellent enough.
oh and a tip for you don’t forget to be friendly and question for free gifts when you buy, sometimes they’ll give more when you question :)

pleased export and excellent luck :)

buy it from Egypt with warranty it is safer – i bought mine a year ago with 1 year warranty .i did not use it (thank god )- unless it was really cheaper from Saudi .so save your money
