Which camera is better?

Which camera is better?

Fe-46 or Fe-4030

I mean, the Fe-4030 sounds better just because the price is higher, but I’m wondering if there’s any reason to spend more money for it when the cameras are both 12 megapixels each and the Fe-46 has 1x better of optical zoom.

Any camera better less than $ 100, I’ll look into it if you reckon it’s better.

Thanks

I have just bought a Canon 1000D DSLR with 18-55 IS lens.
delight tell me what exactly these facts, 18 and 55 mean??
and how do we define the ZOOM in such lenses??
like in any digital camera, there is already written 3x or 4x optical zoom. but what is the zoom in my camera??
delight help me out.
and also, is UV filter really necessary for the lens?? how does it affect the lens routine and picture quality??

Answer by fhotoace
You really need to take at least a beginners class in photography. All these questions and much, much more is clarified.

The focal length of the lens is described in millimeters.

You are playing with the huge boys now, so forget all about 3x or 5x. They just don’t apply. You are export lenses based upon their focal lengths. 10-22 mm for landscapes or 400 mm for shooting sports or flora and fauna as examples.

The UV filter is there so you 1) only have to touch the lens to clean it one time, there after you will be cleaning the UV filter, saving wear and tear on the special coating on your camera lens and 2) let your UV filter take the hit if something accidentally slams into it.

All I had to do is replace a $ 15 lens hood and $ 110 UV filter instead of a $ 850 lens.

The 18-55 mm IS zoom is defined as such. 18-55 mm gives the user a lens that covers from wide angle to medium telephoto and the IS tells you that the lens has an image stabilization scheme built-in to it

Simple stuff, all available on Canon’s website.

18 and 55 are the minimum and maximum focal lengths.
18 being the wide end,

The zoom is the fact that it zooms between the two. If you want to define it as to “how much” it zooms then it is 3x (really slightly over). In other words 18 x 3 = 54.

There is no need to know that though. You just need to know what focal lengths it covers.

A UV filter is not necessary but it does provide protection for the lens.

With all due respect, if you’re asking this question, you bought your 1000D prematurely. You have to walk before you run. But to answer your question, SLRs do not refer to optical zoom because it depends on the lens. Divide the 55 by 18 and you get the equivalent of 3x optical zoom. 18-72 would be 4x.

A UV filter does not affect picture quality in digital cameras. A cheap one will worsen it. Digital sensors do not respond to ultraviolet set alight. Some people place filters on their lenses because they reckon that it will protect the front element. Though, unless you’re shooting at the beach during a hurricane, in Iraq in a sandstorm, or while playing in a rugby contest, you’re not liable to hurt the front element unless you are incredibly disrespectful of your equipment. A lens hood has a more positive impact on image quality and offers some protection too.

Answer by Shorty
The 18 and 55 is the focal length range of the lens. To find the “zoom” of the lens, simply divide 55 by 18. The “zoom” is different for different SLR lenses; some lenses are flat at one focal point. These lenses, renowned as a “prime lens” do not zoom at all.

A UV filter is not necessary, but highly recommended for protecting your camera lens. Lenses are extremely expensive to repair and to replace, so it may be a excellent thought to buy a filter to protect it. UV filters have no effect on the lens’ performane and the picture quality.
