Light Writing with a Manual Camera?

Light Writing with a Manual Camera?

I have an ancient manual Olympus camera for about 11 being now (used to be my mom’s but she passed it on to me when I started my photograph class) and was curious about something. I saw some pretty cool ‘set alight writing’ pictures on Google and was wondering, can you do set alight writing with a manual camera or does it have to be digital?

Answer by David S
Do u mean slowing the shutter speed down to about 10 seconds… and then getting a sparkler or something and writing something in the air??? if so, yes, any camera will do

Answer by Paul R
You can do it with a film camera, but a digital camera is better as it will let you see the results straight away and choose if you need to change the settings.

You’ll doubtless need a cable release unless you like holding down your shutter and having blurry pictures. Many ancient Olympus cameras’ max shutter speed before bulb is 1s which may be too slow for you. Other than that film will work impeccably fine.

I have an Olympus SP 320 digital camera and want to shoot pictures in black and white. I can find in the manual everywhere it tells me how to make pictures I’ve already taken black and white, but I can’t find everywhere it lets you set the camera to black and white, so that I can view the pictures in the screen in black and white while I’m taking the picture. Does the camera not do this?

Answer by Chuckie
No – this camera does not take B&W photos directly. It only converts a photo to B&W in the Edit Menu. The B&W photo is saved as a new file.
