Digital camera: right choice?

Digital camera: right choice?

So.. now, I went out and bought for myself a digital camera, but now I’m not sure if it was the right choice.

Fujifilm Finepix J10 for $ 149.99
8.2 mp
3x optical zoom
picture stabilization
movies with signal
14 vista positions
Rechargeable lithium battery came with it, which is supposed to last up to 150 shots.
Internal memory holds like, two or three pictures, but I got a 2gb SD card for $ 18.

It’s set alight and compact, which is more than liable why I bought it.. but does anyone know if this is a quality camera (that just happens to be affordable)?

Thanks!

sounds fine to me.

quality overy quantity always remember. if you are lllooking to get into photography canon is the best to go but also remember this, its not the camera that makes excellent pictures its the photographers eye

Answer by thewiserfool
That is an brilliant point and shoot camera. 8.2 MP is very excellent for a $ 150.00 dollar camera. I am a professional photographer and my best DSLR only has 10.1 MP. As long as you are just a casual photographer who needs something compact and simple to use, that is a perfect camera.

No, you should have gotten a Canon. They are reliable and have the best pic quality for you cash. This cam sucks.

I had a Fuji and really liked it. The trap door that holds the battery broke.

I prefer a camera that takes AA batteries. Don’t need to worry about the batteries charge. Use them and discard.

My sweet new lens
digital camera 18 optical zoom

Sigma 18-200mm Optical Stabilised (OS) zoom lens. On an APS C sized sensor equipped camera such as my Canon EOS 350D, that 18-200mm translates to 28-320mm, which is a sweet range of focal lengths. I’ve had the non OS version for over 2 being and I’m so pleased with this new version. The stabilisation works really nicely. Well worth the extra cash.

My options are:
Sony Alpha A230L Black 10MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Standard Zoom lens
Nikon D3000 Black DSLR Camera Kit w/ 18-55mm Lens (Non VR), Includes Nikon Camera Bag
or a
Fujifilm FinePix S1600 12MP Digital Camera Bundle w/ 15x Optical Zoom, 3″ LCD Show, Image Stabilization, Includes 4GB SDHC Card, Camera Case, 100 Bonus Prints Offer

The Fujifilm is cheapest but includes more with the bundle, and the Nikon is most expensive with less in the bundle…

which overall would be my best choice?

The Pentax Kx is around the same price as the Sony, but has a far better sensor and is a cheaper system to buy into by far. The camera is always the cheapest part of any DSLR system, by the time you’ve added a few lenses and sparkle you’ll have spent more on those.

Any DSLR will beat the Fuji on image quality, the Fuji is a bridge camera with a tiny sensor and a flat lens, they don’t even have anyway to sync an external sparkle.

If you want a small camera with all the advantages of a DSLR in image quality and the ability to change lenses etc. look at the Panasonic G2, or if your not attracted in movie the G1.

First, the Fuji is not a DSLR.

Second, I strongly suggest taking a serious look at the Pentax K-x. The K-x was chosen by the ‘Technical Image Press Association’ as its 2010 “Best DSLR Entry Level”. Here is a review:
http://www.shutterbug.net/equipmentreviews/amateur_digital_slrs/0510pentax/index.html

The Pentax K-x has:

1) A CMOS sensor which gives superior routine at higher ISO settings and in low set alight – everywhere you need a higher ISO.

2) Live View.

3) HD Video.

4) Double/multiple exposure capability of from 2 to 9 images on a single frame with Auto EV Compensation. This feature opens up a whole new world of creativity to you.

5) A focusing motor in the camera body so any Pentax or other brand of AF lens will auto focus on the K-x as it should.

6) Image Stabilization in the camera body so any lens used becomes an IS lens.

7) A selection of body colors in case you’d like a red or white camera instead of a black one.

The Nikon D3000 has exactly NONE of the features of the Pentax K-x. NONE.

The current price of the Pentax K-x w/18-55mm lens is $ 530.95 at http://www.bhphotovideo.com

So check out the Pentax K-x.

The dSLRs are the Sony A230 and the Nikon D3000. Both will take brilliant images.

Simply hold them and choose the one that you like in your hands. It honestly is that simple a choice.

Forget reviews and specifications, at this level of budget the single most vital thing about export a dSLR is how it feels in YOUR hands.

You can not buy a terrible dSLR.

First of all, Fujifilm FinePix S1600 is not DSLR camera. It is just super zoom point & shoot camera. Between Sony and Nikon I would recommend Nikon D3000. Simple to use, provide excellent color, sharp image. Nikon also have more lens and accessories choice.
