How to I get my digital voice recorder to record in MP3 format?

I have an Olympus Digital Voice Recorder WS-500M. The manual said that it is competent of recording in both MP3 and WMA. So far I’ve only been able to record on WMA which is terrible because I’m working on a Mac. Does anyone know how to do this?

According to the Olympus web site, to get your WS-500M to record in MP3 format requires a firmware download. Have you done that already?

It’s a non-pc digital audio recorder;has 512 mb of memory,enough for: -300 h in LP -53 h in SP -20 h in HQ It work with 2 AAA batterys that should provide 20 h of recording or playback. For transfering recordings to PC you need a 3,5 to 3,5 mm audio cable(male to male),buy it or make it (it’s very simple,reckon!).and a audio recording software.It;s quite simple! The video was made with my SE K800,than added audio from the Olympus recorder,So,sorry for video quality.
