trouble importing videos from jvc digital camcorder?

do i need a firewire port(pc doesnt have it) in order to upload or will usb do the trick? produce i used usb and and had the movie editor up but it didnt detect the camera so im thinking firewire(i have the cord, need the card) might be necessary for me to get video and that usb is only if i got it on a memory card. or do i just need software(in which case i have a jvc digital camcorder GR-D372U, so delight tell me which software i need) for the ulead dvd moviefactory(dont tell me windows movie maker, i dont have the right video card for it to run apparently). delight help, im on a deadline to get my footage edited

I have the same camcorder. To start, Yes, you do need firewire to get it onto your computer. Turn on your camcorder. Next, on Windows Movie Maker, by clicking Ctrl-R, it will bring you to a screen. hit next in anticipation of you see your picture or a blue window. hit get video, or capture frames, or whatever it says.

I am trying to get out of export a webcam, if I can use my camcoreder, hooked up to the computer, how do I do that.

I tried this once. Basically you will need to download some software that uses your camcorder as a webcam- try download.com.

The thought is that you can either plug in the Camcorder through fire-wire or through USB. I’ve had problems with signal when by my camcorder as a webcam.. so you might have to play with the audio settings a bit (or use a seperate microphone)

Hope that helps.. if all else fails.. I would recommend just export a simple webcam (it saves you time in set-up).
