Why is my Nikon D90 taking pictures with terrible color?

Why is my Nikon D90 taking pictures with terrible color?

On sunday, I bought a $ 1300 Nikon D90 kit. It has proven to be an incredible camera that had signal quality and color in anticipation of last night. All of a sudden, the camera decoded it didn’t like conservational things any more so it turned them gray, but appeared the right color in the viewfinder. i reset the defaults, and it is still doing this. Why is this happening, and should I exchange it for another?

I’m not one hundred percent sure of this. Did you trying putting it in the completely automatic mode? If you did, and something’s incorrect, that means something is really incorrect. In automatic mode, everything is automatic, like the name suggests, you can change nothing, so they should be normal. If you are in a mode you can change the white balance, try changing it to fit the vista. The Incorrect White Balance can make colors look weird or unrealistic. I’m not sure if it’s the white balance though. If you’re in the Automatic mode, and it’s not working still, i would question a person in the store.

Call Nikon Tech Support at 1-800-645-6689 and clarify the conundrum to them. They’ll tell you what you’re doing incorrect.

The first thing that came into my mind would be the white balance also. Have you tried manually setting the white balance?

I suggest you go and contact Nikon service to get their help

Posting a test picture would be a fantastic of help.

As others have said, it could be white balance. If set incorrect it makes things appear either too blue or too orange.

I went to Mount Baker for Opening Day on December 14th, 2008. It was a fantastic day of powder despite ahead of schedule season situation, minimal lift line ups, and lots of fun. Quick video shot with my Nikon D90, and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Sorry about the quality… it’s just a quick cut to show how the day progressed. Expect better quality videos soon!

Check www.VancityAllie.com for the full tale on her blog.

I’m purchasing my first SLR camera soon, & after researching about models & asking some professionals, i was recommended the Nikon D90. I want a excellent standard lens for a starter with it, something of high quality and excellent for a beginner like me..plz recommend what u reckon would be suitable =)
links would be helpful, thanks!

Answer by fhotoace
Because the D90 has the video option, I would opt for the 18-200 mm VR. It will give you an brilliant focal range for both still and video shots.

Answer by BWANA
Photoace is right, but that is an expensive lens. If you don’t have that kind of money go for the 18-70mm Zoom to start, and the 70-300mm is a nice addition and does not cost that much either.

What do you reckon? Answer below!
