Which is the best place to buy a digital camera?
I recently had a really terrible experience with an Olympus digicam. I was glad I was able to return it to the store twice. Plus the store (C***USA) offers a 2 year protection plot. Though, I’ve noticed that one can find better deals (in terms of price) over the Web, but I’m concerned as to what is going to happen if anything goes incorrect with the camera. Everywhere should I take it? Will I have to send it back over the mail? Delight help. I reckon this is a very vital issue to consider when export because you’re investing some money and you want your investment to be protected just in case. What do you all reckon? Lower price vs protection and convenience……

If you are concerned with having to ship it back through the mail, just look for a local camera store in your area. You might have to pay a bit more, but they usually have a fantastic guarentee or some kind of protection plot. It’s worth the extra money to know that you will have a excellent protection plot. On top of that, a lot of camera shops will offer free classes with the buy of the camera. They will teach you not only how to use the various functions on the camera, but how to do some fascinating “tricks”

2007 In Review

I really stole this thought from brappy, one of many amazingly talented friends I have made this year. I have been floored over and over again by the incredible images I have seen this year, and each one has inspired me in new ways. Thank you all for sharing your creations for us all to see.
So lets see, my 2007:
January started with a trip to Honolulu for the 2nd time in as many weeks. I went there both times for work, and didn’t get to do much sightseeing.
In February I got what I thought would be the perfect camera, a Canon S2 IS. For a time I did like it. It even went with me on a trip to San Francisco, a house I had never been before but always wanted to see.
In March, I bit the bullet and shelled out for my first SLR, a Nikon D50. I also was able to catch Anti-Flag for the first time which was a fantastic show.
April started out with another show, John Vanderslice with St. Vincent. JV himself met me at the Triple Door to get me in with my new camera. I got a front row seat and was able to shoot the entire show. I had always had a dream to be able to shoot a live concert and finally did it!
In May I bought a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens for my D50. Easily the sharpest lens I have ever seen. I also got a Nikkor 70-300G lens, but I don’t really like it or use it. I really started to know how photography works and was able to improve my shots overall. I went to my first Seattle Flickr Meetup at RX McRory’s. This was also the first time one of my photos made it to Flickr’s Explore pages, and it was one of the ones I took at the meetup!
June found me really starting to explore Seattle for new seats to shoot. The highlight was an afternoon exploring Gasworks and Magnuson Park. Both seats taught me a ton about composition and working in mixed lighting. I also sold my first picture ever. It was this one of Erin and it was sold for online use to the Washington State Department of Visiting the attractions; www.experiencewa.com.
July found me traveling to Ocean Shores, my first trip to the Washington coast. It also marks the first time I learned the Free Wall in Sodo. I learned the Seattle Graffiti group in Flickr. I also got the chance to see John Vanderslice play a few songs on the Fremont Bridge.
Dignified was a huge month for me photographically. I was intrigued by Heather’s Are You Feeling Lucky project and requested a roll of my own. I bought my first film camera, a really crappy Yunon YN-500, and shot my first roll of film. I went to Denver and shot some of my best digital shots to date without even trying and realized I can get excellent results AND have fun at the same time. I snuck my D50 into a Seahawks game and got some incredible shots there too. I also received my grandfather’s (who I never really knew) camera, a Fujica ST-901 SLR. There was an 8+ year ancient roll of Kodak Gold in it at the time. I shot the roll and they came out fantastic.
In September I really started shooting a lot of film. Erin bought me a Lomo LC-A+ for my birthday (I turned 31, btw) and I shot my first roll of B&W. I went to the Seattle Flickr Meetup at Kubota Backyard, and I shot a ton at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. I also shot the Bridge Motel one evening after an outing at Gasworks Park.
In October I was allowed to know the secret house of the Owl Tree Wall in Capitol Hill, and I shot it on 3 different occasions. I got 2 different half-frame cameras (Agat 18, Olympus PEN-EE S), both from ebay. I shot what is now my favorite picture, and one that Flickr thinks is my most fascinating; Late Summer in Seattle.
In November I got my second film SLR, a Nikon EM. The only lens I owned that really worked with it was my Nikkon 50mm. Still takes the clearest pictures, even on this 40 year ancient camera. I shot the ConWorks Wall in South Lake Union. I shot a ton of The Belmont in Capitol Hill, but I missed more than I captured. I also sold my second picture, this time as a framed print.
December was a huge month for weblogs and me. I tied Metroblogging Seattle, I launched www.seattlestreetart.net with Liquidnight, and I revamped www.slightlynorth.com, my personal site, into a photolog. I got a 35mm f/2 lens for the Nikon EM, and started playing with a Lomo Fisheye adapter I got with the White Stripes special cameras I will never use (they will be worth more if I don’t!). Late in the month I also chose that I needed to print larger and upgraded my digital SLR to the groundbreaking new Nikon D300!
On April 4th I challenged for myself to post at least one picture per day to Flickr for a whole year. I am pleased to say I am still on track to meet that goal!
Some stats for the year:
Total pictures posted: 1367
Busiest Month: Dignified (183 uploaded)
Photos that made it to explore: 24

I have a Sony DSC-W5, and I really like it. It has a large (and I mean large) LCD screen. It’s 5.1 megapixels and has a bunch of shooting modes including video. I’ve never had an Olympus, but I know some who have and they also had Sonys and recommended getting a Sony.
