Look here and do the research.

There are so many variables when it comes to features, optical zoom ranges

Your budget is high enough to buy nearly any of the high-end P&S cameras which can produce high resolution (not real HD) video.

Look for cameras with at least a 20x optical zoom and one that uses SD / SDHC cards

Here’s a specific thought for you. I own one of these and really delight in it.
It’s a Fuji and takes brilliant photos and pretty darn excellent video.

Both 3 model take fantastic image quality but Sony is the only one that take HD video. If you don’t mind that Sony use memory card, I would recommend it

check Steve’s Digicam for reviews.
Consider Panasonic along with the others

My Panasonic had the best review when I bought it.

The Nikon tends to be harder to run and not the best pic

Canon is more money but has a relocatable viewing screen.

Sony DVDirect Deck
sony hd digital video camera

Because you can burn DVDs without by a computer, use the DVDirect anywhere, anytime.

I recently brought a new digital camera (Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1 to be more precise).
In the video settings there is both 720p (Fine) and 720p (STD) HD video.
What is the difference between the two?
(Eg. Is one better quality, does one make a larger file size etc). Thanks :)

Answer by Xx1Dustin1Xx
STD means Standard Definition. It’s not in HD quality, but the Fine is in between HD and STD. I recommend by Fine over STD. Size? Well Fine is a bit larger than STD. Just use Fine. Trust me.

On some cameras, there’s a option for XTRA. Which is a sharper version of Fine. HD quality i believe

I hope this helps

Answer by dave
It is a matter of in-camera sharpening and compression level. Fine should have larger files.

Answer by keerok
Both have the same video size. Fine has better quality than STD (standard).
