Q&A: What is my best option for a pocketable digital camcorder?

I had two options in mind: 1, either a digital still camera that takes excellent movies, or, 2, a small camcorder.

Plse tell me which is the best option, and within that, which is the best choice for me for around $ 300

Try www.tigerdirect.com, i got a wonderful small digital camcorder from them for under $ 200, if you dont find any you like try googling for the microtek take it mv500 thats what i have and its compact and works awesome. Excellent luck

I got an AIPTEK camera.

It takes 5MegaPixel pictures and it records movies. It plays MP3s, records audio and has AV outputs. It stores files like a jump driver and uses SD memory cards up to 1GB. I watch full length movies that I download from the net.

I have a Hi8 tape for my camcorder and I taped my newborn’s birth with it. The camera isn’t a digital camcorder, but I know that you can take it somewhere to transfer it to a computer. Analog format to digital format. I can’t buy anything because I don’t have any money to buy it lol. Can I take it to a photographer? Everywhere do I take it to do this?

It would be cheaper to buy an analog converter than take it wherever, and the converter (around 50.00) would be a one time buy. I have the dazzle and I can hook up my ancient analog video camera or hook up a VCR to it and download it to the computer, unfortunately when going from analog to digital you do lose some quality.
Another thing is to check your cable company, they sometimes offer a transfer service, again this can cost you some money too.
