Digital camera: old top-end vs new low-end ?

I am looking for a used super zoom or realllllly cheap Digital SLR, but all the reviews are from when a camera was new on the promote. So…how do I compair a 10+ Y.O. Nikon D100 that went for 2K new, with a referbished new(ish) panasonic Lumix. Obviously, I’m not expecting miracles, but it would be nice to shoot some pics of the grandkids on the small league field and be able to get a decent 8 X 10 print (or jpeg for the computer monitor). I used to do my own 35mm B&W developing wayyyyy back in the day…but digital tech is beyond me.

I would go for grown-up top end, but possibly not as ancient as 10 being. You can look for a used superzoom or dslr, it would cost less than export it new and you still get more features/perfomance than you would export a groundbreaking new camera. The only downside is that you may not have full warranty on the item in case of breakdown. Superzooms such as Canon SX series or the grown-up S series are worth a try, or the Panasonic Lumix series also. I don’t know much about DSLR’s but Canon may have some refurbished ones on sale on their website-Google Canon estore. Hope this helps.

Under the image of the cameras you should see conservational text denoting reviews and samples so you can further equate models.

And, yes you could get nice 8×10 prints from the D100 or any other 6MP DSLR.
