How can I convert my Sony Handycam from NTSC to Pal mode?
I have a Sony DCR-HC32 Handycam, and I want to view my captured videos on the television. But the problem is that the television works on the Pal system and Camera works on NTSC system. Somehow it is not possible to convert television mode from Pal to NTSC, so can you please tell me if the camera mode could be changed from NTSC system to Pal? If so, how can I do it? Please help.

Hi, it is done via the menu on you Handy Cam, if you are unsure of how to change this find a camera shop and they will be happy to show you haw, if however your cam does not support Pal then I am afraid it’s a new cam that will. But usually they can be changed. If you have the instruction leflet read carefully, I know they can be a bit bewildering. If it does not mention how to convert then do as I surgest and find a camrea shop.
Hope this has been some help

You can’t change the recording mode with that camcorder. Are you sure you can’t play it on the TV though – most are dual standard.

ok so i have a sony handycam with a usb connection to my laptop, but no software to record it directly to my laptop, what do i use or do? helpo_o/

You can not record video directly to your laptop via your camcorder. Some users get confused when they hear the term ‘capture’ video to their computer. That process is a miniDV camcorder connected to their computer with IEEE 1394 interface (FireWire) cable and the video on the miniDV tapes is downloaded (captured) uncompressed into their video editing program. It’s not actually live.

Mandy is partially right…
We actually have no way to answer your question because you have not provided enough information.
*Some* camcorders have a “USB streaming” capability that allows low quality video to stream over USB. This assumes your computer has the correct USB driver installed and the camcorder can actually provide that streaming capability.
Since you did not tell us which camcorder or which computer or which operating system for the computer you are using, we have no way to know what your camcorder and computer are capable of doing.
If your camcorder is capable of USB streaming, the instructions to do that will be in the camcorder’s manual. If there are no instructions in the camcorder manual to do USB streaming, then it is likely not possible with what you have.
