Canon HV20 camera video input to Final Cut Pro HD Express?
Canon HV20 camera to hook into Final Cut Pro HD Express, what are the necessary settings to import video? I have tried many things yet Final Cut Pro HD Express is not recognizing my video for import.
Answer by Small Dog
Clarification: You can have Final Cut Express HD. You can have Final Cut Pro HD… There is no “Final Cut Pro HD Express.
Which version of Final Cut?
If it is an grown-up version, you need to manually bed in the Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) from the Mac OSX system discs – the AIC is a QuickTime component.
Which Mac are you by?
How are you connecting the camcorder to the Mac?
The only way that will work is by connecting a firewire cable to the HV30′s DV port (not USB) to the Mac’s firewire port (not USB). If you have a MacBook made between October 2008 and June 2009, there is no firewire port and no way to add one. ALL other Macs made in the last 10 being or so have a firewire port.
The only workaround I can come up with are to use another computer with a firewire port and FinalCut – and when you import the video, get the video project files to an external drive. When importing completes, shut down the computer and hard drive, disconnect the hard drive from that computer and connect to your Mac – start everything up and open the video project file…

Well tomorrow is black friday and I am really looking into export a nicer video so I can continue making films. I have two options of cameras I have been looking at: the Canon Vixia High-Definition HF20 which was priced at 499, and then the Canon HF200 HD which was priced at 549.
I really want a camera with fantastic filming quality and that is pretty excellent at getting the film off of it onto the computer for editing. Delight help because I looked up the reviews and it still didn’t help much. HELP!

The HF20 cannot be priced at $ 499. It is evenly about $ 1000! The cheapest I could find was $ 600 online for Black Friday: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OI2YTC?ie=UTF8&tag=thebubrocpro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001OI2YTC.
The only difference between the cameras is storage space. The HF20 has more storage than the HF20. I would get the HF20 if it really is $ 499, or even if it was $ 600!

I just went through the same motions and opted for the HF200. I just liked the thought of fewer moving parts in the camera which is why I stayed away from internal memory. Some of the buttons on the camera seem to be in odd seats but I’ve acclimated quickly. The quality is brilliant and it’s quite simple to txfr to your Mac or PC. www.fumfie.com had the camera available for less than $ 500 and they were a pleasure to buy from. The installed s/w is quite limited and I initially had distress transferring from camera to PC simply b/c of a setting I hadn’t made on the camera. As soon as that was complete, all was ok. I like the ability to manually adjust the camera for video and/or photo. Was hoping I wouldn’t have to lug around my still camera but I have some features to master b4 charitable that up. I hope that this is helpful. excellent luck.

Right confession: I despise watching horror movies. The amusing part is that the “scary” scenes really don’t scare me. It’s anticipating when they’ll happen that really freaks me out.
