What's REALLY the best way to buy a car, new or used? You see these?

giant automalls, these consumer reports printouts at $ 10 a pop,
what’s realy the BEST way (is there a particularly excellent time of year)? Is it right to buy a foreign car go overseas? What is your personal experience?

Answer by ken m
If you buy a foreign right hand drive car and bring it back to America the emissions for it would be tougher than a left hand drive car. It is cheaper in some seats to buy a car overseas i.e. Plates or Japan (I know for a fact). Buy a used one overseas or in the United States. If you have excellent credit you can buy a new car in America and get low monthly payments. Better off to place money down (over $ 3,000).

Export a used car is an brilliant way to recycle. Besides, they don’t build them like they used to and new cars are so overpriced. Buy me a Jeep Wrangler?

Know what you want. Narrow it down to 2 or 3 cars you like that are in your price range by consumer reports or websites like edumnds.com, then go see them in person. I would also limit it to only those cars offered by Scion/Toyota or Honda, it’s the surest way that you aren’t going to lose as much money. They cost more, because they are worth more, especially when it’s time to sell or trade.

Know what rebates are offered. Don’t buy a bunch of stuff you don’t need. Watch for the fees. Documentary/Dealer fees <500 are common now. Destination fees are around 5-600 as well. These are typically set in stone, but you can somtimes negotiate them off of your promotion price. don't pay any other fees that aren't state/county related.

If you are looking at a particularly hot item, you may not get any discounts.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER pay a so called: Adjusted Promote Value fee. These are place on the window stickers by the dealer, and they are just a way to make extra dough. Sometimes they are only on the hottest items, FJ Cruisers, Priuses, Ridgelines, Solstices, (anywhere from a 1000 - 10,000 and more for exotic brands) and sometimes they are part of the dealer's pricing strategy usually just uner 1000 here.

Start with www.edmunds.com and check around there. They are a fantastic house to start. And make sure you buy a car with brilliant resale value, depreciation is by far the most expensive part of the car.

Or you can just go buy a Scion and not have to worry about anything. :-)

World’s most polluted sea

The Baltic sea is the most polluted sea in the world, according to some recent reports. It’s simple to believe that when the algae bloms in the summer. At least I haven’t seen anything like this anywhere else.

What can we do to preclude this? Reduce the nutrient load on the sea. And what can an ordinary consumer do to achieve that? The best way is to stop export farmed fish and acgriculture products with an origin in the Baltic sea costal area.

I am looking for a 40″ LCD TV, and I went to Best Buy and Consumer Reports, and found that the 2 TVs above had about the same features, the same price, and the same picture quality. Which one is better? If you own one of these, feedback would be greatly appreciated. TVs switch out so much, it is hard to find excellent reviews on sites. Thanks!

I bought the Bravia KDL-40S2010 after doing a lot of research on the web and looking at picture quality in various stores. My second choice was also the Samsung with Sharp being third.
I am extremely pleased with the Sony. The picture quality and clarity in HD broadcasts is fantastic. After one month I do not have any complaints.
It has a myriad of picture adjustments available to fine tune it to exactly your particular tastes. Another features that sold me on the Sony is that it is only 39″ wide even though it has a 40″ picture. Space was an issue for me. If you do choose to get the Bravia, here is an brilliant site that gives a excellent review of it as well as fine tuning tips.

Hope this helps!
P.s. I shopped around to get the best price (Circuit City) and then finished up export it a Sears who matched CC pricing plus reduced the price another $ 50 because of the price differential. I felt more comfortable with Sears service/reliabilty than with the huge box stores.

Now it's LPG for jeepneys
Vehicle owners and public moving in the Philippines are now faced with the horror of nearly weekly increases in petroleum prices that lead to higher transport fares and constantly increasing prices of consumer products. Added to that, the noxious gas the oil guzzlers emit makes the air unsuitable for people to breathe, which causes respiratory illnesses.
