I really like the Sony Alpha 350 I’m so familiar with how Sony digital cameras work, i find it hard to become accustomed to another camera.
Price of course is a factor, 750 dollars is the highest I’ll go.
any suggestions?

Look at the Nikon D60 its a nice camera. Or the Canon XS (not the XSI) its also very nice.I have an Xsi and i love it.

really dfificult question to answer…at the hands of a gifted photographer… all of the current crop on the market are more or less equal…
im very partial to Canons since im very familiar with how it works…Nikons,Sonys, Olympus…etc…theyre all good…
you did mention you are already familiar with Sony…i suggest then that you stick with it…

I have a sony a350 and it’s very, very good. the reason i chose the sony a350 over the canon or nikon was the live view mode. in the price range you’re looking at (which is the same as mine was) it was the only camera that had the option of using the lcd to frame your photos, all the others you have to use the viewfinder.
the real difference in photo quality is with the lens. if you’re looking to go professional then you need to invest in some quality glass.
Answer by Jack F
The A350 is a great camera, but save your money and get the A200, you really don’t need liveview unless you take a LOT of macro photos. Professionals still get by just using a viewfinder
The important factor in a camera purchase is the LENS. By getting the A200 you will be able to spend the money on a great lens, it makes a huge difference in the quality of your photographs.
Concentrate spending your money on the lens, not the camera body. The A200 with a great lens will be far better than the A350, a Canon, Nikon etc., with a cheap lens.

the canon, 1D and 5D are pro level, but the 1D is like $ 5000. you mean entry level-DSLR. then, canon rebel XSi
