Anyone know of a moderately priced, but good video editing software?

Anyone know of a moderately priced, but good video editing software?

I have to make a video out of all my clips from a weeklong camp assembly. I want it to look professional and I also want to add music and edit things out… I have something that came with my Sony digital video camera, but its not that fantastic.

Pinnacle makes some pretty excellent software. Pinnacle Studio seemed to be powerful enough for most edits without costing an arm and a leg and being too trying to use. You’ll be able to add soundtracks, change volume levels, splice clips, transitions, etc.

Edit: a note about Windows Movie Maker per the suggestions of others; that is a fantastic free go house to start without even having to go out to the store and it might do the trick for you. Personally I found it to be too limiting regarding codecs (even if you bed in a codec for WMP, Movie Maker won’t work with it) and it is pretty buggy too.

Well you have windows movie maker on your PC already. Just look in your programs is pretty simple and simple and you can edit stuff out and add music. If you want to do more complicated things your going to have to get pricy. I for myself use adobe premire pro and aftereffects but those cost my college I work at about 1500$ !

Another fantastic program for someone who does not need to do a lot of editing would be Photoshop Elements 5.0 Plus Premiere Elements 3.0 by Adobe this costs around 70$ But I reccomend it. You can get at Compusa.com but Im sure you can find it cheaper somewhere else like Ebay.

You may try the best software I have seen AVS Video Tools. It can convert to/from all key format, upload video or DVD directly to key portables like iPod, Sony PSP, Archos, Zen Creative, and mobiles.

It can capture video from DV or webcams, TV tuners, DVB-T, DVB-S, transfer VHS tapes to DVD, remove commercials, edit video, copy and burn DVDs and video files: AVI (DivX, XviD, etc.), MP4, WMV, 3GP, 3G2, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO, MPEG 1,2,4, MPG, DAT, VCD, SVCD, ASF, H.263, H.264, RM, DVR-MS.
