Q&A: Which is the Best Digital Camera Brand?
I know Cannon Olympus and Nikon are all great cameras but I want something that is great for artistic purposes, many lens attachments and can be used for high quality every day purposes as well. I do not want anything with video really, but I want to change from color, to black and white and such.
Thanks so much!

Canon is the best but are also the most expensive.

Nikon wins for image quality and has a larger selection of lenses than Canon. Olympus really isn’t in the running yet when you consider interchangeable lens cameras. Canon is winning the pro sports photographer market in part because of a larger selection of high megapixel pro dSLR cameras and a deep line of fast super-telephoto lenses. But these high megapixel cameras only work well in well lit situations. I see way more Nikons in use in studio settings where people are being creative.

You’ll get the Canon and Nikon fan-boys, but the fact is that there is no such thing as “best” brand. They all make cameras that are great and they all make cameras that are mediocre.
Since you don’t want video, then get the cheapest dSLR you can find, they all have more lenses than you would ever need or afford and they will take excellent images in the right hands.
You have missed Sony and Pentax, they make some of the cheapest, but don’t equate cheap with low quality. It is NOT possible to buy a bad dSLR. They are all very much the same in terms of Image Quality at a particular price point.

I take a lot of pictures of my family, friends, scenery etc. I’m also going to be using it a lot because I’m going to be in the yearbook class when school starts back up again. I had a Kodak C433, and it lasted a year and a half. I was pretty happy with it, but I’d like one that’s a little more advanced, I guess. I’m looking for something that’s durable, small, with good zoom, and with different settings to change the coloring, lighting, etc (not sure what that’s called). So, what is the best brand of camera that I can get for around $ 150? Also, any other suggestions when looking for cameras are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! <3
oh, also, i like the ones with big LCD screens

I Love My Kodak Z1285. It’s small with a pretty good size lcd screen and has a millions settings. You can crop pics, remove red-eye, change color settings, etc.. all on the camera itself. I got mine for $ 150 on sale, but I think it normally retails for about $ 199. Office Depot has been running a new sale on them for $ 160. You should look there and see what kind of deals you can get. It’s great because then you can purchase the easyshare g610 printer dock and print off really good quality pictures whenever you want. The Kodak Easyshare Z1285 has 12.1 megapixels and 5x zoom. It’s also High Definition and takes videos as well. The Canon PowerShot SD750 only has 7.1 megapixels(not as pretty of a picture) and only 3x zoom. Not as good a camera for more than or the same amount as the kodak?

Canon is the way to go. They are a little pricier, but they are totally worth it. For you, i recommend the PowerShot SD750. It’s $ 200, which is over your limit, but it’s definitely one of the best in my opinion. The LCD screen is huge, there are lots of different modes for color effects and such, it lasts long (just as long as you dont drop it!) and it takes great shots. It’s perfect for taking yearbook, and on the go shots with your friends. I highly recommend this!
