How long should my lithium battery last for my kodak digital camera? Its not rechargable.?

It only lasted about 1 week and we didn’t take that many pictures. Then used standard AA batteries and the camera stopped working. I exchanged it and wont use AA again since it might hurt some pictures they say?

You are getting some incomplete information.

I AA batteries cannot hurt images … if you attempt to take photos when ANY battery is nearly depleted, the last data write may maybe be terrible.

Second poor information is that batteries last a certain amount of time in a digital camera … This is not right. They are rated for the number of images they will capture during their life. Depending upon the design of the camera this can be from 200 to 350.

There are claims that AA Lithium batteries will last up to seven times longer than heavy duty AA’s (you will notice they do not include alkaline batteries)

In truth, your digital camera is calculated to work with AA NiMH batteries and you will find that they are also the most economic way to go

As a follow up, you should be aware that while there are AA Lithium one use batteries, there are also some state of the art batteries with the word Lithium in their name, but are much more reliable and are rechargeable … they are the Li-ion batteries like the ones found in DSLR and better quality P&S digital cameras. Li-ion batteries both hold their charges longer and can be used for up to ; five years before they need to be replaced.

The battery life will depend on the amount of use, but when the battery is finished, you might want to try Energizer NiMH rechargeable batteries and their compact charger. I just bought one at Walmart for $ 10 and it is the best. It has a safety timer, temperature monitor and trickle charge technology.

The secret to making digital cameras work better is having excellent electrical contacts between the batteries and the camera.

Digital cameras require lots of power. If electrical contacts are not really excellent, this can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really excellent. The LCD show is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. With terri ;ble contacts, cameras do weird things like making terrible pictures or shutting off with the lens out.

Everytime I turn on the camera a blue screen says memory card requires formatting. I can’t even cancel out of it or take pictures or even look at all my saved pictures. I didn’t format it cause it will erase all my pictures. SO is there a way i can repair the memory card without losing all my pictures. i have about 1000 pics on there. Please help me!!!

Try a photo recovery software & contact Kodak support for additional options ie a recall or under warrenty

The card is having a conundrum with the number of pictures that you are storing. It’s right that high capacity cards are theoretically capable of storing that many pictures. But the reality is that some will have problems. I highly recommend that you go persons pictures to be stored on your computer, and backed up (burn them onto a DVD). The conundrum with your card will j ust get worse, and it will ultimately fail making your pictures unreadable. You would then only able to recover the pictures with special software.

The only way to repair the card would be to format it (by the way, this should have been done when you first place the card in the camera). Yes this will erase the photos from the card.

Finally, if the card has failed by the time you read this:

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don’t have one, get one, they’re cheap:
