Don’t do it yourself… take it to a camera repair shop.

You may have the SD card in up side down which may maybe call for professional help, but if it is working this is not the case.

Before adding or removing memory, make sure the processing or ready light is not blinking then turn the camera off and remove batteries. This may maybe help, but if it is still stuck there may already be hurt. Check with the Geeks at some of the camera retailers for help. They have probably had this conundrum before.

Check the source link for additional camera tips and information on cleaning battery/camera electrical contacts.

The secret to making digital cameras work better is having excellent electrical contacts between the batteries and the camera.

Digital cameras require lots of power. If electrical contacts are not really excellent, this can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really excellent. The LCD show is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. With terri ;ble contacts, cameras do weird things like making terrible pictures or shutting off with the lens out.
