Most P&S cameras are assembled in China, others in Thailand. They are designed in Japan and are under the strict quality control of Japanese technicians and managers.

Yes even certain big brand camera manufacturers have had issues with fakes, but there are few if any “complete” Sony Fakes out there (there are plenty of dodgy replacement batteries and the like.

If the camera model number is correct, and it has all the functionality of the original, then it’s almost certainly genuine. Anyhow Duty Free shops do tend to sell originals rather than knock offs, in all but the dodgiest countries that is!

hey ive been chosen for the still picture talent hunt, so please teach me how to take best resolution still pictures with sony digital camera?

Answer by joedlh
What, may I ask, is 720p? Do you mean 720 pixels? Well, that’s not a very demanding resolution.

I can’t in one answer tell you how to become an accomplished photographer. One achieves that by going out and taking pictures. But I will start you in the right direction: read up on exposure, composition, lighting, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, depth of field. Oh, and put you camera on the highest resolution of which it is capable. You can always scale down to 720 pixels, but you can’t effectively scale up.

Answer by Tobasco
720p means it shoots basic high-def video; it has nothing to do with the resolution of still pictures. For stills, just make sure you are using the best size and quality settings on your camera.

Just remember: high resolution doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be an amazing photo.

720 pixels is low resolution – too low for stills. For stills you want to put your camera on the maximum quality setting. Check the user manual on how to set it up.

The resolution isn’t what will make the image good or bad however. The skill of the photographer is what will determine the outcome.

firstly, you need to provide details of the sony camera you are using…

if it is a video camera, then stills would be very difficult…

if it is an Alpha, then you should be able to take photos without a problem… if you know how to take photos properly…

I am an admitted rank amature in photography. But, I am insulted by the idea so many people seem to hold to, that being a good photographer is simply a matter of a few quick tips or a quick run through of Photo shop. I`ve been into photography since I was 14 years old. I`m 44 years old now. 30 years and I have barely touched the field as far as what it takes to be a pro. And this person wants to do it in the confines of a paragraph or two.
