what tripods work with a canon rebel EOS XT camera that you can find at best buy?

what tripods work with a canon rebel EOS XT camera that you can find at best buy?

I would take any but if at all possible a cheap and well-built tripod would be better

Answer by fhotoace
There are no specific tripods for List’s. All tripods use the same mounting screw on cameras up to 4×5 view cameras.

Bogen / Manfrotto are the ones used by a lot of photographers. There are many different models to choose from.

fhotoace is assess. There are no tripods that ‘match’ any particular camera. Your best bet would to bring your camera along and try it on several different modlels.

Things to look for:

1. Lock on – lock off. (with apologies to Mr. Miyagi)
Avoid the legs that lock with a twisting collar. Look for flip-levers instead. The collar styles tend to slip, throwing your camera to the ground! They also take the longest to exchange and setup. The lever styles are reliable and quick. That’s all I’ve used for the last several years.

2. A tilting head.
Look for a tripod with a clever tilt head. Not all shot are composed in landscape mode and you want a tripod that will easily flip your camera sideways and still maintain a excellent balance.

3. Braces (no, not from the orthodontist)
Bracing between the three legs help stability. The braces also help the legs to open and close quickly when you’re moving from place to place.

4. Quick-release.
Quick-release plates mount to the bottom of your camera on the better models. Then, with a flip of a locking lever, you can remove your camera for handheld shots. If you keep the plate mounted on your camera, then securing it to the tripod is quick simple, and stable.

5. Sure-footing.
Adjustable rubber feet help on harder surfaces like floors or concrete. Look for rubber feet that rotate upward to reveal spikes. The spikes help the tripod get a reliable hold when you’ve on grass or soft ground.

6. Handle or strap.
A tripod with a carrying handle or strap makes life much simpler when you need to carry it. After all, you’ll have your camerabag and your camera to carry already.

7. Size matters.
Look for a tripod that’s large enough for stability, but not so large as to be left at home. Personally, I have 3 different tripods and 3 different monopods and choose what suits my assignment or mood.

8. Maybe 1 instead of 3?
Consider a monopod. They really help stability (your legs are the additional two legs of the tripod) and can be used when sitting as well. I use one when shooting NBA & WNBA games. Monopods are so light and compact, there’s rarely a reason to place one behind.

9. Watch out for the Best Buy extended warranty vultures. They make extra $ $ off of it and will suggest it until you say, “no, thanks”.

I hope this is helpful for you.

So you want to place an expensive camera on a cheap tripod?Sounds foolish to me. Listen to fhotoace and go for the name brands. I’ll add Slik and Velbon to his list.

To what George Y said I’ll add “Get a fluid tilt/pan head with actual handles for the vertical and horizontal movements”. A thumbscrew is fine for loosening and tapering for panning.

Taking a break from contemplating List[Day131]*
canon best buy

I’m upset!

Last July for my seventeenth birthday my Mom bought me my List XT Rebel. It has been a treat having such a gorgeous camera until NOW. Basically my camera ALWAYS gives me an ERROR 99 [a lens error] I've place the lens back on back off, had additional photographers place it back on. Still repeatedly gives me the error. So the additional day, I pop into Best Buy [I wish I would have got it somewhere else but there is no where else around in Minnesota, my Mom likes seeing it in person before buying it or I'd buy online]. I have a four year warranty mind you. They kidnap my camera away from me, my heart breaks. They say the battery is dead. I point stretching my arm out that the battery IS NOT dead. I looked at them clueless and with heart break. My camera is like a sibling for me. I take care of it; I take it everywhere, etcetera. I have nothing else that compares the relationship of the one I have with my camera. They find nothing incorrect that they can fix in the store. They say that they can send it away for a month or two, most likely more because of the summer season. I look disappointed and take my camera back. I grunt my way out the door, reminding for myself why I'd always been a Nikon girl. But I was a trader; I changed because the Nikon DSLR didn't fit my hand correctly. The whole ten small ride home from Best Buy I reminded for myself of the mistake I made alternative a List.

I am at the turning point where I maybe plot on selling my XT. But then I remember I got a boat load of accessories. Not hard for selling, but still, I don't want to deal with the hassle. I just want a camera that functions. I got my point and shoot but when I'm plotting on starting a photo business this summer, this doesn't look excellent. My heart is breaking over this. I'm so torn what to do. Worst part is my friends who have the identical camera with a TWO year warranty basically just got handed an XTi when they took it in and complained about the conundrum. Whatever, I'm just depressed over this. Photography is my life and I've never been this close on charitable up. I am not a quitter but when something this drastic happens I rethink if I am really making the right choice.

Pleased FUTAB Friday!

Sony only has one real camera. Its Alpha 100. With list, how much do you want to spend?

EOS 1Ds Mark II = $ 8000
EOS 1D Mark IIn = $ 4000
EOS 5d = $ 3000
EOS 30D = $ 1400

Answer by hkpentium
sony cameras are terrible, i would definatly go with list for a excellent camera, much better quality and more relianant support staff, making it a much better buy, try the digital rebel from list

Answer by Ronnie
I would beyond doubt go with List model for the obvious reason. They have been in the photography industry for many years, and they are certainly well versed. Right you may pay a bit more, but for technology and knowledge in this gear, then I would stick with the best.
