Celebrate the New Year (2008-12-31 DSC00880)
best buy warehouse

But please celebrate responsibly! Pick a designated driver or take a taxi. Don’t drink and drive.

I stopped by Costco this morning to pick up a pumpkin pie for tonight’s dinner (probably the last one for the season *cry*). I thought that these wine bottles might make a nice photo. Ironically, I didn’t buy any alcohol. We will be celebrating the new year with sparkling peach juice. Yummy!

The warehouse lights are not the best lighting, so I touched up the color a bit in Photoshop on my laptop–the first time I’ve used my laptop for color tweaking, so hopefully its calibration is pretty close to right. I also blanked out the prices and item numbers on this low-res image to make it a bit more reusable.

I live in Bakersfield, California.

I was talking with a lady who owns and operates a retail store and resells high end clothing from stores like Macy’s and Bloomindales. She also sells video games and electronics from this Warehouse. I asked her where she gets her merchandise to resell and she told me that she goes to a Warehouse located in the Los Angeles area and buys clothing by the pound. And apparently the clothing is all from Macy’s, shelf-pulls and surplus, new with tags. The electronics and video games she also gets from this same Warehouse. She said that they also have surplus from stores like Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us and many more. She said that during the week she goes down to this Warehouse and it is Huge inside and everything is wrapped in plastic on Pallets, or it is stored in brown boxes labeled with the store that it came from. She says that they walk around to each pallet or box and auction each one off. She said she bid on 10 different boxes that you could not see through, but were only marked on the outside of the box “Macy’s”, Target, and Best Buy and so on. She did not know what was in them when she was bidding. She said they won’t let you see inside of them first. But she said she purchased each box or pallet for an average of $ 100-$ 300. Then when she got them home here in Bakersfield to her store, she opened them up and found that one box was completely full of Coach & Dooney and Bourke purses. Another was full of video games, another was full of toasters, toaster-ovens, and other kitchen items, and so on.

I’ve tried looking for this place across the Internet and can not find it anywhere. Unfortunately, she wouldn’t tell me the name of the place, or exactly where it was located. All she said is that it took her and her husband 2 years of searching to finally find it and that if we searched on the Internet we wouldn’t find it.

Does anyone have any idea what this is, or what the name of this place is?

Thanks

The only place I can think about is Garment Industries in downtown, Los Angeles Street, Santee, Pico Blvd. I assume she is not going to tell you. You can buy clothes whole sales and put them in the Macy’s box. Also check E bay in the internet.

Answer by Curious
I work in the garment industry in downtown and never heard of anything like you are talking about.
In fact never heard of anything where clothing and electronics were in teh same store downtown.
