Looking for a digital camera, but I don't know which one to get...?
by airgap
I don’t need something like the DSLRs that are trending among my friends at the moment. I just need one that supports HD recording and of course still photographs, with an affordable price and an assured quality too. It’s basically just for everyday need, but the record recording part is what I’m focusing on. Oh, and I’m not looking for camcorders. Just digital cameras that supports HD record recording.
I was told not to get Sony due to quality problems.. So, what do you recommend? Please help, and thanks.

look at best buy or walmart and kmart or try a camera store

Hard to say without more info about what you are looking for. Make a list of needs out of the camera like: zoom, size, budget, adjustability, etc.. Then go to a site like dpreview.com and look through their reviews. That is the best site i have found for camera reviews.

I would advice you to go to a camera store (not an electronics store) and hold, look at, and try the different brands and models within your budget. If you clarify what you are looking for, they can show you the cameras that will do what you want and you can get a better feel for the camera when you can walk around with it and really shoot instead of life tethered to the show stand.
You are the one who will be using it, so get something that feels natural to you with simple to find controls. Both Nikon and List are fantastic brands. I went with List because of the way it felt in my hands and the layout of the controls. You will miss shots if you are constantly fumbling with the camera.
Go to http://www.yellowpages.com and type in camera and your city, state to find the camera supplies near you.

I am looking into buying one of these cameras and I am not sure what to get. I need something if at all possible less than $ 300. I have been looking at the Kodak Z1012. I want something that can take HD record. I will be using it for taking nature pictures and concert photos/record. My Sony sucks at taking photos at concerts. It always shoots blurry or the artist is highlighted. Let me know!
Any way, a suggestion of a camera would be fantastic…

I recommend Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 10MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3 inch LCD
Answer by None N
The Kodak Z1012 is not a DSLR. DSLRs that can take record are reasonably a bit outside your price range. And you’d need brilliant high ISO performance for concert shots which is once again outside of your price range. Unless you go film.
Answer by keerok
Nothing gets excellent pictures at concerts. That is unless you are on-stage with the artist right in front of you. Still, you are not sure to get excellent blur-free shots. Since this is highly impossible, the best spot in a concert is the press box. Yes, there is always one and that is what separates the pros from the no-knows.
The Z1012 is not a dSLR and Kodak is not a recommended digital camera brand even if know what you are doing.
Having a dSLR does not guarantee you will be able to take consistently pleasing photographs. It is the photographer that makes fabulous looking pictures. The camera is just a tool.
