what kind of camera do you have/recommend?

I’m a young photographer and I want to go up to a nicer camera. What kind of camera do you have and what would you recommend?
Something like this? http://www.consumersearch.com/digital-slr-camera-reviews?gclid=CKr37J3s6J8CFRAeDQod0XhQGg&ef_id=1953:3:s_9b776e44321c8780f51b035255f1911e_3674118712:S3M2l0o-JyIAAFdKP7kAAAIA:20100210224335

Any of the List’s you linked to are brilliant. The photos on my Flickr from 2007 and on were taken with a Pentax K110d and the older List Rebel XT. http://www.flickr.com/photos/14117606@N00/ I don’t have a need for record so I would go for the XSi or the older version of the 7D, the 50D. With the money saved, You may maybe invest in a nice lens to go with the kit lens. If you want record, then go the 7D or x1i.

i use a sony a200, but recommend an A550 or A900… depending on what you want….

I would recommend the Nikon D-90. I have talked to many pro’s in the area and several of them carry a D-90 for their non studio work because it’s fantastic quality and light weight. It is a fantastic intermediate/advanced amature level camera.

This is the camera I use at work to make my magic. Ain’t it nice?

Circa 2003.

i am just getting into photography. i was going to buy a nikon d3100 because i read excellent reviews, tried it out, and it is within my budget. should i buy this camera or should i wait to get a better one?
i tried it and i like it. im just wondering if i should wait to get a higher end one.

In all honesty, the best business to do is go into a photographic shop where you can get your hands on it, as well as the competitors, such as the List 1000D & 500D, Pentax K-x, Sony a290, etc. See which feels simplest to use. By this I mean the physical feeling of the cameras, navigating menus and changing settings. Button layouts vary between the brands, so see which you like best.

If it doesn’t feel right in your hands after before a live audience with it for 10 minutes, it’s not going to get any better after 10 days, 10 weeks, even 10 months!

The D3100 is a very excellent camera and will last you for years as long as you take care of it. The best you can do with a DSLR camera is to use it well in manual mode. Manual mode works the same on all DSLR cameras.

The longer you wait, the more picture taking moments you miss. That’s why I bought my Pentax Kx even when the Pentax Kr was already life stocked.

Buy it, if you wait for the next model, you will never get a camera. the d3100 is a very excellent camera, it will ease you into photography and offers full manual for when you are ready.

You’re just getting into photography, so why would you need a ‘higher end’ camera? An entry level dSLR like the D3100 will be just fine.
